ummm…i stayed in west campus and yes the walk was pretty far…i personally think the first party I went to was lame…

yea they purposefully host parties during the stay that they make sure dont get rowdy so its completely responsible to take your prefrosh to them but frat parties thats another story they are not encouraged but like it was said before its within the rules of the program to go because they are on campus

no ^, i went to DHW and we had a list of rules, one being that you are NOT allowed to go to frats/sororities OR collegetown. both the host and hte hostees were told this specifically. one of the guys who was running the whole program was like he knows you’re all going to go anwyays so just be safe! basically

i didnt go to a frat but i went to collegetown and a dance party hosted by the ILR fashion show. it was a good party with lots of people (although the frat members or wahtever who were “strolling”…SO ANNOYING!) and i would have had a great time if i hadnt been crippled from walking all day and all night since i got there!
another girl from DHW went to a like salsa party or somethign weird like that in collegetown with her host and drank loaddss. unfortunately, my host was not hte drinking type but i still had tons of fun

How were the parties guys? I didn’t have enough money for the fashion show after party after paying for the fashion show so hung out in my dorm lounge with some friends till 3 ish.
I think we were allowed to go to collegetown, just not frats. I read on another sheet that we couldn’t go in residences in collegetown but going to the shops was fine. I didn’t get to go though =. But I did other fun stuff with people like bowling, rock climbing, and the Risley Harry Potter themed dinner(I was sooooo nerd-ing out there. loved it. even got myself a wand =] ).

At DHW I sat in one of the classes: Employment and Labor Law (apparently the hardest class for ILRies). The students had a research project due and the highest grade was 77 out of 220 (35%)…

LW Trojan you must be talking of the toughest course in the ILR school (with professor gold)

surprisingly quite a few people ended up with As in that course (gold wont teach it this fall…there are like 3-4 other profs who teach this course and it is offered each semester)

to LW Trojan…dude i went to the same class that you went to when professor gold gave out the scores…what’s your name…maybe we hung out that weekend…lol

I attended the class where everyone epic failed as well. That and slept through 20% of it.

are you guys ILR majors?

You guys can’t seriously all be into partying and drinking. Excuse my traditionalism, but my host didn’t party and I’m really glad we didn’t go to any parties.

juliet capulet: To each his own.

@ResurgamBell

I would’ve been an ILR major…

good for you and your host following the rules juliet capulet…

the host risked severe JA not only for him but for the frat/house hosting the party…not even the MILRSO Fashion After Party was supposed to be for the DHWers…

oh…i guess i’m also thinkin that the DHWs who did attend and partied were those only going FOR THE FUN and not because they were actually interested in attending cornell…

umm the general ban on partying made the school less attractive. In fact, due to the social scene I saw I nearly went to USC over Cornell but ultimately didn’t due to the difference in quality and prestige.

that just goes to show that those who want to party/drink/dance can find someone to do those with, and those who don’t want to do any of those things can also find someone to do that with. everyone has a niche. woo go cornell! lol

I went to the after-fashion-show party and was bored most of the time. But that’s probably because I’m not really a party person (I just wanted to see what it was like). Other than that, though, I had a great time at Cornell. I was there with Viviolay doing the rockclimbing/bowling/Harry Potter stuff and had a lot of fun. :)

“oh…i guess i’m also thinkin that the DHWs who did attend and partied were those only going FOR THE FUN and not because they were actually interested in attending cornell…”

you guessed wrong! What is the relation btween a person who likes to attend social events-ex. party and not being interested in the school. Clearly you must be someone who is incapable of attending a social gathering and behaving like a ‘normal’ person. The MILRSO fashion show correlated with DHW weekend and so did its party. Actually one of the directors asked me, how was the party and if I had fun.[ and before you try to say that this was a way of finding out who broke the rule…NOT/ he was pretty cool and even hang with me and other DHWers most of the time. Point is, stop thinking that a person cannot like both party and academics. i went to DHW weekend and it made me want to go to Cornell. Not the academics and prestige that we all know of, but the lively social scene and people!
