^Trust me required doesn’t mean anything. I didn’t go for 95% of the required activities and I have absolutely no holds. In retrospect, the book discussion had to have been the biggest waste of my time.

Your kid will not miss out on anything if he/she does not go to Cornell days. It is really for RD students who are still sitting on the fence. Your ED kid is going to Cornell whether he/she loves it or not. There is no upside, just downside for ED kid (or parents).

My older one loved one of her admitted schools when she initially visited, but during the accepted student day she thought the students were weird and the day wasn’t well organized, so the school came off the list.

All new students will get necessary information during orientation. I say save the money and spend it for the first parents weekend.

Are all the PE classes easy? And how are the philosophy FWS?

@ oldfort - thank you! That was the answer I wanted to hear ;)

What fws are the easiest? most interesting?

Do you have any friends/know anyone involved in the ROTC programs?

I currently have obtained one ROTC scholarship and am contemplating using it. I have met a detachment commander on campus and have learned alot about the program in Cornell, but I was just wondering if you could tell me anything from a student’s perspective.
Thanks

@ Lelyke Oo I totally misread that question. Yeah I would not recommend going to the book discussion. I went and we just sat there and twiddled our thumbs.

@bojl95, general consensus is to not take any in the English department, and according to one of my friends, also to avoid anything in the anthropology department. Personally I would pick something that you’re already interested in. I took one that had to do with wealth inequality and enjoyed it a lot because I already took AP Micro/Macro and read a lot about the financial crisis so it gave me a better perspective on the topic.

How is the course rigor in the college of human ecology. Do you have to kill yourself to get a 3.5+? Like is it really cutthroat? I want to major in HBHS and go for premed, I really love the college’s mission and my ecs are perfectly aligned with it.

@magnificent6
I took one course in HumEc this semester (DEA 1110, Making a Difference by Design) and the atmosphere was not cut-throat at all. However, it is a difficult class to get an A in… I got an A on 3 out of the 4 projects and I only got a B+ (3.3).

Greek life – yay or nay? Pros and cons?

^ Rush is in the beginning of the second semester. So most of us freshies aren’t in frats or sororities yet. If you are really desperate go to [Ezra Hub | a forum for Cornell University students](http://www.ezrahub.com). They discuss mainly Greek Life. They are rude and vulgar but very helpful and good advisers (a much vulgar version of college confidential).

Wow a vulgar version of CC, why didn’t I use that from the start.

^They say a lot of rubbish but I know they’ve given me solid advice when I needed it.

I just checked it out, honestly it seems like 90% of the posts are way too influenced by misc bodybuilding community slang.

Oh well.

^Wait where you in Jasmine’s class? I remember the Suu last name in the locker room.

I don’t use my real name online for anything.

Yeah that was too stupid to make sense, I just had to kill the curiosity.
