This post relates more to Computer Science but is directly related to UF. I have been accepted to Georgia Tech and expect to be accepted to UF come February 14th. Can anyone shed some light on the CS program at UF and how it has helped them find a career in the field? I am particularly concerned with the fact that UF does not have a ABET-accredited Computer Science program while Georgia Tech and every other Florida school I have applied to does.

Thank you in advance!

ABET accredition doesn’t matter in CS. UF’s Computer Engineering degree is ABET accredited, but the CLAS (college of liberal arts and sciences) CISE and I believe the engineering CISE degrees are not. This is typical of many CISE programs (you’ll find schools with ABET accredited engineering but not ABET accredited CISE programs).

Computer science is a completely unregulated field, unlike engineering (where you can get a profesional license). There is no legal advantage to an ABET vs. a non-ABET computer science degree.
