Multitasker- I fear you are correct. We will just have to more diligent then he/ she and try to offer real feedback to those that are interested in GW. Plus, I think the MODS are also keeping a close watch.
As a female I have never felt unsafe on or around the campus. Many of the problems/crime seems to have occurred late at night often when someone is walking alone. One has to always be aware of their surroundings and always walk in groups in the late evening. The area surrounding GW is probably one of the safest in DC after all the President of the United States is our neighbor!

I agree with you MsBC, and thank you for your comment by the way. I feel very safe at GW, especially having not only the GW police nearby, but the secret service as well, along with 4Ride, the transportation provided by GW within the campus at later hours

What? I missed an entire alias?
I agree with the others about safety issues- be sensible, and you’ll be fine.

Re: safety
I had 2 kids in city schools, and one in a fairly rural area. My greatest worry was always the rural kid, because he had a car. The kids in the city learn how to get around and stay safe.

Agree with everyone on safety. It is important just to be smart and use common sense. Consider walking in groups at night and definitely don’t be distracted by headphones or a cell phone. Don’t leave laptops or valuable unattended (I often see laptops just asking to be stolen) 4Ride has become more of a free taxi service then a safety shuttle. I honestly don’t know any people who use it because they are genuinely afraid. Its a great service though.

Also police and security presence is very apparent. You will not go a single day without seeing a DC police car!

I am currently a junior and I was wondering how competitive the admission to the five year program (BA/MA in Poli Sci and Public Policy) is. To be precise, about how many students are accepted in to the program?

I am in top 10% of my class, expecting my SAT scores to be in the mid 2100’s (it was my first time taking it in January), and my ec’s are solid. And I take most of the rigorous courses offered at my school.

OH and also, is it hard to get a lot of financial aids from GWU? After all, it is one of the most expensive schools in the country and I don’t think my family is rich enough to afford it…

Thanks a lot! :)

I don’t know much about the five year program. But, I believe you will be accepted. I got close to a full ride from the school so don’t worry about financial aid, they give a TON

So the amount of financial aid I get wouldn’t matter if I apply ED or RD?

Nope it doesn’t. I applied ED and got a lot of need-merit aid from GW.

Hey GWGrad I appreciate all the help my question was that I applied for the Integrated Engineering and Law program for patent law and I signed up for the Columbian College for Arts and Sciences as a History major. If I don’t get into the Integrated Engineering and Law program, does that mean I get denied admission to the school?

GWgrad, just read your earlier posts and wanted to thank you for all the great information and practical advice you have given here. It is extremely helpful. We appreciate all the time you spend helping everyone out.

hey GW grad¡¡ i am an international student applying to GW, do you recomend it for internationals??? and is the economics program good???

thanks,

Gwgrad, thanks for the helpful posts and replies. They’re really helping me narrow down my list of colleges.
Now to the questions:

Do you think that GW is a good school for potential medical students?
Other than its expenses, what are some weaknesses of GW?
Lastly, how about a chance?

I have a question about Freshman dorms. I was wondering, say if I got a dorm in Lafayette so would I get a random room? Or are the dorms “first come first serve”. How does that work?

They assign the rooms. You can request a double, triple, etc.

So it’s just based on luck if you get the room style you want? Like I looked at some of the blue prints and each room is different (like 205 is different than 206, etc…)

Yes-…

I’m deciding between U Denver and GW; how is GW for English/Bio dual majors, and what is the acceptance rate of GW students into med school?

I don’t know if this has been asked or not, but what are ways to get home during breaks other than to have family come get you? I know that bringing a car with us is not an option but then what other options do we have? (I wish I could say take a train but I don’t think there are railways from DC to the South, at least at an affordable price.)

how hard is it to get into the pre-med program at GW ? and im taking AP biology at school next year and chemistry at community college this summer . do the credits transfer over?
