Hi! I'm a sophomore in the college of arts and sciences. I am involved in greek life and in various organizations on campus, and can answer any questions you might have on admissions or Lehigh!

Hey, I have some questions:
- What do you think makes Lehigh unique from other schools?
- What made you choose Lehigh over other schools?
- What are some school traditions/activities?
- What is Greek life like?

Hey, I’ve got a couple questions too:
- As a guy, should I be looking to join a fraternity?
- What are the students enrolled in the business program like?
- How is the general workload at the school? Manageable?

Thanks in advance!

- I would say Lehigh is different than other schools because our emphasis on studying a lot and doing well but also having fun. Also, it is a very social school (and not just party wise), students are passionate about what they do and work very hard to prepare for their careers. I have friends that interned at major companies after freshman year. Also, we are really not competitive (I am in liberal arts, but even my friends in engineering collaborate and help each other a lot) Everyone studies together and we are not cut throat competitive at all.

Lehigh fit all of my credentials-size, distance from home, passionate student body, lots of traditions, good school, etc. But nothing could cap the feeling I had when walking on campus. It truly felt like home, and after I felt that on my first visit no other school could compare.

Lehigh Laf week is huge. We have a concert (Timeflies came this year), have bed races, and other spirit events on campus. Our band plays during class, and of course the game is so much fun too. More…calm traditions are Founder’s Day and the Christmas Vespers, which is an absolutely breathtaking christmas concert in our chapel.

I am biased in my comments in Greek life because I am involved, but from the insider’s POV it is huge. About 45% of girls and 30-40% of guys are in Greek life. It is possible to have a social life and great group of friends if you don’t join, though. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and it is not just about partying. We do community service, participate in school events, help the first years move in, etc. There is also a huge accreditation process every year where we are graded, so there is a lot of pressure to be involved and have good grades. All sororities and every fraternity except 1 have houses on “the Hill”, which is above the rest of campus.

- It is absolutely a personal choice, but it tends to be that you are on Greek life or a sports team at Lehigh. If you come to Lehigh, I would recommend getting to know guys in different chapters first semester. Each house has a different character, and you will know if you feel like you fit in one of them.

The students in the business program are extremely driven and work hard to get good jobs after graduation, but that could be said for the whole school. I know from my friends that there are a lot of group projects, which prepare you for your career, and lots of real world concepts built in. Bus 1 is the intro course, and you create a product and entire business plan/model for it. Last year the theme was sports equipment, and Nike representatives observed/critiqued the final products. Each business class is 3 credits, so you generally take 5 or 6 classes in a semester. It’s ok if you don’t know what your specific major is because there are a lot of core classes that must be completed before declaring at the end of sophomore year.

The workload overall is generally manageable. It really depends on the type of person and student you are as to how many hours you put into your work. However, all of my friends are taking hard course loads, are involved in extracurriculars, may be in Greek life, and still have a social life.

Hope this helps!

What are the stereotypes of each fraternity?

what major are you studying and do a lot of people do well academically in terms of gpa in that major? What are some things you like about Lehigh besides greek life?
