Ask a student!

Hey international here. My gpa is pretty weak. I come from an international system that only values major exams. So my grades for the past 4 years are literally 50, A (major exam), 50, high B (predicted grades for next year). I only found out about American Universities this year. I made an attempt to improve my grades, though I don't know whether that is reflected... any chance I can get in?

How are the internships for the IR major? Or the alumni support for Mt holyoke? Is it very competitive in the IR Department? I love competition so that would be a plus!

I am an international student and going to have an in-person interview with MHC alum on Dec. 26th. Honestly speaking, this gonna be my first interview with college... Kinda nervous...

Ummm... could anybody who have done the interview share her expereince with me? Or any tips about interviewing?

Thanks = )

hey, I was wondering what you guys think my chances of getting into UMass Amherst are after checking out my stats:

Honors English 1-3
Honors Spanish
Honors Chem and Bio
Latin 1,2
4 years of Math, History, Science, Language, English,
3 years of Band, and such electives

SAT 1875 (Math 570, Reading 590, Writing 670, Essay 10)

E.C's:

I think I wrote a very good college essay and I sent a separate "note of interest" to the admissions office.

I had my Latin teacher send a letter of rec (I plan on majoring in italian and I think it wold help to get one from a Latin teacher) as well as my science teacher and counselor.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

mt holyoke really does have very good bio and chem departments, but i've heard it's better to choose somewhere else if you're interested in math or physics since they need to send math students to amherst college or u mass or an international program for the really high grad-school-level courses. in high school i did a summer program in the 5 colleges area, and they are not close together, even driving, so i'm guessing people just like to stay where they are.

Hi !!.....
How is the eonomics department at Mount Holyoke..... and is double majoring encourged at MHC?

PEOPLE PLEASE HELP OUT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!!
What sort of "paper" would do for the supplemetn part? I did not have english from my school for Grade 11 and 12 (I am International), although I took English A Levels from British Council. Any paper I wrote in any other subject have all the technical "phospholipid bilayer" and "electramagnetic induction" stuff in it, which anybody with Internet and textbook can write. What would make my "intellectual abilities" apparent? I think SAT essays would do a good job, although school teachers obviously never look at them...can I just write an essay and get it checked by a class 9 and 10 english teacher? please someone help soon becuase I have to get it checked by Monday! :s

Astro, when applying to MHC, I submitted a paper for my law & government class on which I received an A+. As long as it demonstrates your ability to write coherently and stylistically in the English language, then it should be fine.

Thanks butterfly :)
