Hey everyone, figured I’d try to answer any questions you all might have! I’m a junior accounting major in the Isenberg School of Management, transferred into the honors college last semester, been living in Southwest since my freshman year, on the women’s rugby team, work part time at Hampshire dining hall and I’m out of state (from Maryland).
hey there, I have a few questions! I’m thinking about transferring next year from my local university all the way in Alaska. what is generally the transfer acceptance standards for GPA’s? I currently have a 3.0 after finishing my freshman year (my first semester really screwed me over - I retook the class I got a D in and got an A, however the D will remain counted in my GPA until I transfer and that would raise it to a 3.3) and I plan on continuing my upward trend this year and getting A’s and B’s to hopefully raise my GPA to around a 3.3 by the time I plan to transfer.
I also have declared my double major in accounting and finance, how hard is it to get into the school of management when transferring?
I’ve heard the university favors students from out of state when reviewing applications, is that in any way true?
and my last question is about housing, I know transfers are generally placed in sylvan, however I am outgoing and would plan to take classes at the school of management and hope to get houses somewhere in southwest, would that be pretty easy do you think?
thank you so much for your time!
I stand corrected! I just checked my transcript and my GPA is a 3.23 because I retook the class and they used the higher score
I’m gonna be a senior in high school this year. I’m applying to the business (marketing) which is apparently super selective. I have a 3.57 GPA and a 1950 SAT… What’s my chance of getting in? I go to one of the top high schools in MA and because a lot of Ivy-Leaguers apply to UMass as their safety, the average accepted GPA is a 3.83. I’m just worried bc my school kinda screws me over and the business school is selective. Thanks so much for your help!
Hi,
I want to transfer to this school my junior year.
Do juniors still live on campus or is that unheard of?
Other than Sylvan because I’ve heard that is a bad area to live.
Hi, I am currently a freshman at another university and am looking to transfer to UMA in the fall of 2016. Could a student at UMA tell me about the CS program there? What is it like? Do you like it? I am currently attending Roger Williams for Cs but so far haven’t had a good vibe for the way classes and education works here. What do you like about UMA?
