AKC, thanks for the link. I have applied for a transfer but USC still hasnt told me if I was accepted or not yet:(, but said they would tell me in the next week. Now my next concern is HOUSING:(. i would be comin in as a sophomore, now i dont know if anyone would know , but is like all the housing like gone by now? I think i would like livin at Parkside 2(AHRC) or maybe Webb Tower since its by the Drama center and Anneburg Communication School. Does anyone know if Webbs a good place to live?? Im just so scared about even IF i get accepted that housing woulod be all filled. Thanks

Webb Tower is a very popular place to live among continuing undergraduates, so I'm not exactly sure if there are any spots open there. I think all of the spots went out during the first day of housing selection, which was earlier in the year. But yes, it IS a nice place to live. The building was renovated last year, and it is right next to Cafe 84 and the Lyon Center (gym). I'm not too sure about Parkside 2, as that building is new for this year.

Tinkerbell- I've actually stayed in Webb tower once, one of my friends used to live there. I hear it's a very popular place for upperclassmen, space is pretty limited since its apartment based. I hear getting into webb is a lottery. You live with only one roommate I believe and you get a kitchen, small living space, and a bathroom. AHRC on the other hand has spaces opening up here and there I believe, I've already got reassigned around in AHRC a couple times now. In the end, its up to you whether or not you want to live in a brand new suite with 8 other people or live in an older apartment. I say the brand new suite; its a better way to meet more people than an apartment. =) I wouldn't worry much about spaces in AHRC, a lot of new/north/birnkrant rejects ended up there. I'm sure they can assign you a room =)

Thanks AKC, also I saw online theres an application to apply to like at AHRC,did most people have to turn one in. I emailed a women at housing and she said transfers cant live there, but online it says that its a option for transfers. Im so confused. I wanna live some where where its close by where my journalism and theatre classes would be,. I love the room that i lived in this past school yr it was reallly big and im gonna really miss it:(, it was bigger than your average dorm room and had a sink in it and shared bathroom with 2 othersgirls conntecting to our room. From the pics Ive seen online most of the rooms are small. Is the campus really huge to walk around, i visited when i applied as a freshman but forgot how big it was? I also just like livin with one other person really, more than thats too much bc people might not all get along.idk.lol.

Im gonna be a junior with a weighted 3.575 gpa taking ib classes junior year. I wanan get into USC heard about hte incredible reviews and the football team. Wondering if someone as low gpa as me can get iN? i will try to raise my gpa. Plz reply

TPhilip- A GPA such as yours entering USC isn't unheard of and is very possible; however a higher GPA is recommended. Since you're going into your junior year, you still have quite some time to raise up your GPA and develop a very nice resume to show USC. Remember, your GPA isn't the only thing considered. To give you a better idea of what USC looks for, here's some categories (from businessweek).
Relative importance of the following factors in deciding who gets admitted to the university:
Secondary School Record: Very Important
Class Rank: Considered
High School GPA: Very Important
SAT/ACT Scores: Very Important
Application Essay: Very Important
Recommendations: Important
Interview: Considered
Extracurricular Activities: Very Important
Talent/ability: Very Important
Character/personal qualities: Very Important
Volunteer Work: Important
Work Experience: Considered

Tinkerbell: There was an application for AHRC, but since AHRC is new (in fact its still in construction) not very many people applied for it (or even knew too much about it). A lot of freshman who applied for new/north/birnkrant were thrown into AHRC this year without an application. The application will probably be enforced next year depending on the number of applicants. I don't think anyone has seen the inside of AHRC yet since its not open to the public. but I heard that AHRC is supposedly larger and roomier.. but might not be as large as the room you descried... I don't know myself. I just know its new and pretty, and thats all I care =D
Yes, the online website has the icon for transfers, I don't know why the woman told you that. Are you transferring in this upcoming fall semester? If you are, I say just go ahead and request for AHRC and ignore what they say. Don't tell them you're a transfer if you don't have to. Worth a shot I'd say.

It's up to you whether or not you want to live in a suite or apartment/studio. But if you're new to USC, I recommend a suite or dorm to make friends. =) I don't know if apartments/studios have any available spaces left, but a couple of my friends were able to reassign themselves to one last month.
I wouldn't worry about not getting along with people either, from my experience, everyone is super friendly =) You can always lock yourself in your room.

Campus is pretty compact. It only takes around 10 minutes to walk across the entire campus. You should take a look at the campus map. Walking to your classes from parkside I would think only takes around 5-7 min, I'm not sure. Might take longer if you walk slow...

Thank you so much AKC, I will try to work on my gpa

Thanks AKC for your help:), im still waiting to hear from USC if i got in for Fall 07!, all my other schools that i applied to as a sophmore transfer told me by May and USC is takin kinda long and im kinda worried.lol. Everyday i check my mail to see if i got anything from USC, and hope theres a big package.haha. and hope the small letters arent from USC.haha. they sent me a grade request in May for spring grades which i thought was good but i think they sent alot of sophmore transfer applicants grade request.idk. Its mean and cruel that they have been taking so long with my application.I just want a decision by now, bc if i dont get into USC i would go to this other school that is good and has a "good rep", but it isnt the one that my heart is sent on:(

how many outlets are in a dorm room? (New)

I think there are probably at least two per person. Definitely bring a surge protector to plug everything into. It will make your life much easier.

Hey there, I'm an incoming USC student who just got back from Orientation and am way excited about SC. However, I think I may have overloaded my schedule.

I'm taking Chem-105a, Bio-120, Writing-140, Religion/Ethics Class, MDA-100 (Intro. to Health Professions required for Bac/MD kids), and a Freshmen Seminar: American Gov/Political Cartoon.

I'm thinking about dropping the Freshmen seminar since it puts me at 19 units and I'd have to pay like $1000 for the extra unit. I think I heard the Bac/MD class is more like a discussion/hangout rather than an actual class, which is good. But then I heard Chem, Bio, and Writing all require a lot of work!I want to stay in the writing and religion classes because it's a learning community, plus I'll get writing over with. I think I should stay in Bio because I heard they only offer it in the fall?So I think I might switch Chemistry for Calculus I since I just had that? What do you think? Am I screwed with my schedule?

Do students typically take chem-105a in the fall and chem-105b in the spring as premeds? And do they typically take bio-120 in the fall and bio-220 in the spring?

Worried because I need to keep a 3.3 to stay in the Bac/MD Program, but I still want to have a reasonable time in the fall going to games, a few parties, and perhaps even pledging!

You might wanna drop the seminar. I don't think it's worth the extra money.

Yeah, premeds usually take Chem 105a and BISC 120 in the fall, and Chem 105b and BISC 220 in the spring. I think it's best following the recommended schedule of 1 bio and 1 chem class every semester.

WHAT SEMINAR ARE YOU IN????????????

Sorry... I've been trying to add a seminar for nearly a month now. Please PM me and tell me what seminar you are dropping and when so I can pick it up! lol... Please and thank you. lol

do you have to pay more for 17 units?
Also, I guess the foreign language test on line is not to place out of the class but to find out what level you are in? Is it true the only way to place out is take the test in person at the testing center? What is the format of the test at the testing center? Mult choice? Fill in blank?

you can take up to 18 without paying any extra. but yes, please, if anyone knows the format for the foreign language test at the test center, please tell!

Hey Trojans, sorry to revive an unvisited thread again, but I have a quick question that I hope some of you could help me with.

I'm considering USC (rising senior) and am interested in the Marshall school of Business. I've searched the school's website over and over again, but I can't seem to find the course catalogue for the major. I think I recall viewing it once, but it appears that I am unable to find it. Any help would be great, thanks.

I'm excited about completing the application! Hopefully I'll be there in a year.

i think this is what you are looking for: http://www.usc.edu/dept/publications/cat2006/schools/business/undergraduate.html#bachelor

That was it precisely. Thanks for the help! geez what fun and exciting courses..... :) Hopefully the infamous Marshall grading curve won't wear me down.

Also, here's another inquiry: To my understanding, the max units one can receive from AP tests is 32 units--roughly 8 AP tests provided each is 4 units. When I graduate, I should have completed 9 AP courses, and I was considering taking more tests self-studied (therefore 10-11 tests). Provided I am adamant on attending USC, Is this a waste of time as only 8 classes will be accepted?

Also, I'm thinking of taking college courses next summer to finish off some credits, specifically Math (not a big fan of the calculus numbers). Would this count in the 32 units before graduation (i.e. invalidating some of my AP credits) even though it is taken after said graduation?

Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure the 32 is AP and College classes combined

And i think the limit on college classes is 16 units.
Classes before graduation (except for 2 GE categories), dont really place you out of anytihng, but if taken after, i think it does help...

Google USC articulation agreement and see

i am reposting this. I posted this on the transfer board. No replies.

I hope to transfer to usc from Santa Monica College for Fall 2008. I know that a teacher recommendation letter is required to apply for USC's Annenberg School for Communications. Do I mail this letter with the 1-page statement of intent? When should I mail this statement and or the teacher rec?

Is this the only rec letter I need when applying to Annenberg? Does USC in general require a rec letter?

The annenberg school's transfer guidelines, http://annenberg.usc.edu/images/pdfs...guidelines.pdf,
says that I should indicate language fluency on my resume. I need a resume?

I'm listing what I think I need, correct me:
1. Statement of Intent
2. Teacher recommendation
3. Resume.

Anything else I need, I need to know. thank you.
