Ask an Admissions Counselor - TCNJ

Thanks! Today I received an email saying TCNJ has received my application, and that I would receive information regarding my PAWS account in 4-6 weeks. My question is how will I know if TCNJ has received all the components of my application if I am unable to check PAWS?

^ That’s what they said for me also, but it didn’t take that long. I think it was only like a week and a half or two weeks.

Hi Ialan137! If you are taking online classes you should submit a transcript from the organization that you are taking the classes through.

Vietdancer94, if you are unsure about whether supporting documents are in, you can always call us at 609.771.2131, but you should be getting your PAWS ID very soon so that you can check yourself. If you applied early decision, those documents aren’t due until December 1st and if you applied regular decision, they are due on February 15th. I hope that helps!

Thank you! I have one other question. Right now, as I said, I am taking online classes, so I put a relative down as my counselor because, in this case, she is. I know that counselors have to fill out the Secondary School Report and things like that, so should it be my relative who should fill it out, or my previous counselor(last year I went to a private school)? Should both of them fill these forms out?

Hi Ialan137. I would have your counselor from the private school fill the forms out.

What if that is not possible because my home school supervisor is already listed as my counselor? She has to fill out the form so the counselor from my old school would not be able to. Can my current counselor just fill out the form?

In that case, your home school supervisor can fill out the form, but I would ask your previous counselor (assuming they know you well) to write you a letter of recommendation. If they don’t know you very well, I would look to one of your teachers from your old school to write a rec letter.

I am getting letters of recommendation from teachers at my old school, so hopefully that will be okay. Thanks for your help!

Hi! I was accepted yesterday as a transfer student for the Spring of 2012. My question is regarding financial aid. How and when do we find out the amount of aid granted by TCNJ? I found out via MyApp online so will all this information come with the acceptance letter?

Hi Deadhead654! Congratulations! Yeah, just hold on for another week or so. We’ll be sending out a formal acceptance letter and soon after that will come a letter directly from our Financial Aid office detailing your next steps on how to file for aid and such.

Did admissions post all the transfer acceptances online yesterday?

Hey Chewey! No, we didn’t post all of the decisions just yet. Just like freshman, we release the decisions in waves. This was just the first wave of decisions.

Admissions:
Could you please tell me the dates that the regular decisions are released. I know I saw it somewhere but not quite sure. Thanks so mch

Hi Karensue2! We start releasing decisions for regular decision applicants in the middle of February. The latest a student would hear back for regular decision is April 1.

Will you be posting the decisions on our PAWS account before the letter is mailed out?

For the activities resume, can we just upload it to the “Additional Information” section of the Common App or should it be mailed in separately?

Thanks!

Hi Senioritis12! Typically, the decisions are not posted on PAWS before the letters get mailed out.

Hey Dizzying! You can do whichever is easier for you. If your reseume is complete when it’s time to submit your Common App, you can certainly upload it there. If not, you can email it to TCNJinfo@tcnj.edu with your name and birthdate or mail it to our office at

Good Morning. Is December 15th a firm date for Early Decision Acceptance? Is is safe to assume if we haven’t heard by then, either on PAWS or in the mail, that we are declined?

Hi Wzwoboda! Decebmer 15th is a firm date. You should be hearing from TCNJ then about your ED decision, regardless of what it is, by that date.

Thank you for the quick reply and just another questions: if ED is a no, do students get placed into the regular decision pool?
