Yeah, I'm not that interested in writing my paper tonight so I thought I'd throw up this thread. For all of the older, as in 30+ years old, folks trying to get to Cal, I'm here for you!
I'm 32, a sociology major, and I had a fairly low GPA: 3.56
when I was accepted. I'm loving Cal so much and want to encourage all transfer students to go ahead and apply here. Even if you think they won't take you!

Whats life at cal like? Outside of class

3.56…low? LOL.

I could have had a chance, but I had to drop some classes last semester for personal reasons. Im 31 and lovvveeee the bay area.

I would kill to be in the silicon valley area. Oh well…there is always grad school.

Can you talk about your academic history a little? Also were there particular non-academic life experiences that you think played in their acceptance? Thanks :)

So it turns out I also want to transfer to Cal to study Sociology in addition to a minor in African Studies. I’m currently living abroad and have about 50 transfer units from Santa Monica College. My goal is to move back home to the Bay Area, complete some additional courses at Berkeley City College and transfer to either Cal or SFSU. What was your transfer experience? It would be a dream to study and receive a degree from Cal, but SFSU is significantly cheaper and also offers the specialization I’m looking for.

I’m majoring in Sociology too and my GPA is rather low. I applied to Berkeley as well!
What do you think helped you out the most in getting into Cal? Was it your personal statements or your extracurriculars?

Did anyone notice that this thread is more than a year and a half old?

Someone was actually using the search button!

What a jerk, he never responded to the thread HE started.

^^^All people at UC Berkeley are jerks. ;)
