Ask and I'll answer

I intend to transfer to Union after my first year from another 4-year school. However, I can’t find any information regarding financial aid for international transfer students. Is there any significant drop in finaid for me? What is the acceptance rate for transfer, do you know? I sent them several emails, but it is silent so far…

I’m sorry that the admissions department isn’t more responsive, but since I’m not associated with the admissions department I can’t really give you any specifics, but i did find some stuff on the Union website:

Here is the page on international admissions: [International Admission](http://www.union.edu/Admissions/Applying/TypesOfAdmission/international.php)

and the section on financial aid from that page:

Hope that helps!

how do i ask a question on this website?

The same way that you posted this question…

Can you tell me something about the economics department at Union? Where do economics major often do after graduation?

Sorry I’m late with the reply…

I can’t say a lot about the econ department as I only have one friend who is an econ major. I have heard that the professors are knowledgeable in their field, though they are predominantly foreign and can be difficult to understand in class. I’m not entirely sure what most econ majors do after graduation, though I do believe that Union offers a 5-year MBA program for people interested in that.

I got an email today from Union that says:

As the academic year comes to an end, we want to reach out to you, Benjamin, and ask if you are still interested in staying on Union’s waitlist.
There are times during the summer when we may have openings. Although there are no guarantees, we do keep a list of students who would consider such an offer.
Be assured that we never make an offer of admission without also offering appropriate financial aid.
Please reply to this email with a YES if you want to keep your name on the active waitlist.

What should I take from this message…does this mean that I still have a chance of being accepted?

^ Yes definitely, there’s no way to tell how good of a chance you have but definately if you’re still interested reply with a YES.

I actually got a phone call from Union asking something similar and if I was still interested. Called them back to say I was and it turned out they took me off the wait list and admitted me. Unfortunately I already made a decision on a different school so I ultimately decided not to attend Union. However they offered a lot of financial aid even off the wait list and now there’s another open spot on that wait list for someone else.

Thanks man!!!
I actually plan to call them Monday morning telling them that Union is my dream school and if fin.aid is right (since I got free tution at another school, I need them to match it), I would be going to UNION!!!

Guys… I just wanted to say that I GOT INTO UNION TODAY!!!

^ Wow congrats. xD

Congrats! See you in September (if you decide to attend) :]

Well hopefully I do attend…however my fin.aid was crappy…I am hoping that they give me more money…but if they do I am 100% going!!!

aw, that stinks. Yeah, I only ended up getting to go because of a scholarship. The rest of the fin aid was a lot smaller than my other schools though :(. But, still loved Union the best so…yay loans? LOL

Just curious how much did they offer you boston_man?

I think Union gives 100% need based and if you mention finance being an important factor in your decision they might be willing to make a good offer. They offered me a 30K scholarship, work study and about 6K in loans after taking me off the waitlist if I recall.

This is the deal:

I am gapped $31,000 from Union College…and I have a full tution ride at another school…so what my gudiance counsler and I what to do is negotiate with Union to give me more money…they don’t have to give me a full tution ride but if I get can it down to $13,000-15,000 I will take that!!! I am willing to do whatever it takes becasue Union is my first choice!

O by the way my EFC was $32,000, but there is no way my parents could pay that. I think I could of done something wrong with the FAFSA?

I don’t know why I haven’t heard anything from Union College though I sent my application by Jan 15. Does anyone know the fax number of the school? The number on their website is just the telephone number, and I cannot make an international phone call now…

The office fax number is 518-388-6514…I just typed in Union college fax number in google and thats what I got.

Thank you! =)

In the Fall schedule, I see course numbers and professor’s names for the freshamn preceptorials. I also see a handout that describes each course but does not provide a course number or a professor. Is there a way to determine by course name, rather than course number, who teaches each preceptorial before registering for them?
