will we–those who have committed to uchicago and will be attending in the fall (yay!)–receive goodies such as freeeee tshirts in the mail?

Dear PSAC I just want to say Thank you so much for all the hard work you guys have done and are doing for the class of 2014. My son applied to alot of schools, 6, and we live overseas so it has been difficult to make all of these decisions. Chicago was always his first choice but now it is definitely mine as well. You handled everything in such a professional and efficient way this whole year! With a 42% increase in applications you must have all done this at great personal expense. Many schools claimed this as a reason for incredible disorganization but you probably had a much bigger increase than most. We are thrilled he can attend this great University with such dedicated student volunteers, faculty and staff.

Where can I get the 2014 admission statistics e.g. number accepted, rejected, waitlisted etc
Thanks.

I agree with Jugglingit all–thanks, PSAC!

Also, I second request for free T-shirt, backpack, etc.
It’s sop hard to show my Chicago spirit with this scarf during spring.

How about a U Chicago belt buckle? that would be cool…

and yeah we’re all dying to see yield stats.

Has UChicago ever given guaranteed transfers or late semester entries etc to waitlisted students?

@HappyBuddha, no, in the past this has not been an option.

Also, here is some information on yield: [Trends inAdmissions - The Chicago Maroon](<a href=“Rambling and flat, this family turmoil doesn’t amount to a handful of cherries – Chicago Maroon”>Rambling and flat, this family turmoil doesn’t amount to a handful of cherries – Chicago Maroon)
No, I do not know the number of students on the waitlist, nor the percentage of students commonly taken off of the waitlist.

Is it true that all waitlist spots have been filled already?

UChicago- thanks for taking the time to answer all of these questions.
Here’s mine: suppose I apply to UChicago EA and am accepted with the scores and such that I have then. If I continue to take the ACT and reach a higher score, can I send the higher ACT to have a better chance at UChic merit scholarships?

@ccrawford- you are indeed allowed to send updates like higher ACT scores after admission. However, remember that if we’ve admitted you, your scores were high enough in the first place; while we consider scores, they are not the defining feature of your application either for admission or for consideration for merit scholarships. The best way to ensure a good application is to put focus on all aspects- your transcripts, your recommendations, and especially your essays- and not to worry too much about a 1 point difference on a test.

I’m an international student very interested in UChicago, but I’ll need full funding if I have to attend. The site containing information on international student said that financial aid applicants will be placed in an extremely competitive pool. Does that mean that a student’s admission decision will be influenced by his/her ability to pay? Is getting a full scholarship impossible? If possible then can you please mention how many approximately get it?

You’re right about the fact that international students requesting aid are placed in a very competitive pool and that, as an international student, your admissions decision can be influenced by your financial aid request. However, we do accept a number of international students every year who require and receive financial aid, even those who require full funding to attend. The number varies year to year. If you are very interested in UChicago but need aid, don’t let that be a barrier to your application- we try to discourage international students who really don’t need aid but want to apply just to see if they’ll get some from doing so, but if you really do need significant aid to attend, please go ahead and apply for both admission and financial aid.

Where do we tell our outside organizations to make the scholarship checks to? Do we simply write “The University of Chicago” or something like “The University of Chicago College of Financial Aid?”
Thanks PSAC. Loved your journal and the scarf will keep me warm next winter.

This is a better question for the Bursar’s office. My assumption is that you will have them write the checks to the same person/office you’d write a regular tuition check to, but I could be wrong.
And thanks, glad you’ve found me helpful!

Thanks, for the quick reply. I really do want to attend UChicago and I really do need aid. I guess I’ll try and hope for the best.

Is there a safe and efficient public transit from the University to downtown Chicago?

Yes and yes. There are a few options- there is a free shuttle sponsored by the University (underused and not exactly that convenient, but still free) as well as the #6 bus, a CTA bus that goes from just east of campus to Michigan Avenue; one can also take the #55 bus to the Green Line or Red Line train stations at Garfield, which then stop downtown and go quite a bit more northward in to the city.

Question. How am I supposed to submit the Final Report from the Common App with my final transcript if my counselor has been out and I have no way to reach him? I’ve already graduated and am out of school. What’s the best way to deal with this?

You should contact your regional counselor to discuss this- my best guess is that you should have another member of your previous school fill out the forms as needed, but contact your regional counselor specifically to make sure.

i think somebody asked this before but I didn’t see a reply

Do you know how they are dealing with the waitlisted students? I know some people got admitted. And have all the waitlist spots been filled?
