Ask help for supplement of Kenyon...

Hey,I am applying RD of Kenyon and I am an international student. When I saw the topics of
the short answers, I felt totally lost.... Those topics do provide me a great opportunity to explore and express my thoughts, but I just can not understant their meanings or intentions.
For example: Along the edge of ancient map it used to say" Here there be monsters." What does it say at the edge of your map, and why does it say that?

At the edge of map? Does it mean the fear, the weakness or the unknown things waiting for you to explore? What aspect do they want to know about me?

Can anyone give me a hint? Thank you very much!

I’m also not sure if I completely understand the question, but I’m pretty sure they’re asking you to title your own map. For example, I’m really involved in theatre at my school, so I might say “Here there be actors”, and elaborate on the role that theatre and performance has had on my life, and how it applies to most of the places I go. Again, I’m not certain this is what they’re looking for, but I hope I gave you a good idea.

They want you to discuss how you approach learning or experiencing new things.

Thank you! I think, maybe they want to know how I break my limit or challenge myself…(crossing the edge of my map)

This may be a little late but…

I was accepted ED, so the admissions people must have liked it…

I was confused by this topic, too, so I just wrote a small short story about two pirates. It wasn’t deep or anything. Just remember to have fun with the topic, and the quality of your writing should come across.

Awesome. Thanks mambo15, and congrats!

It should be fun! There is no right or wrong way to approach it. Also, there are several questions to choose from and I was intrigued by them all so if the monsters one doesn’t suit you, then move on! I think it definitely says something about Kenyon to have such fun prompts.

Does this “map monster” essay means what’s your bottom line?
