ask info about the CCT program of Gtown

Hi, I'm an international student and was admitted to the CCT(communication, culture and technology) program of Gtown. As far as I know, it is a theoretical-based program and focuses on interdisciplinary study.

Is it a good choice to study communication and media? How is it compared with BU's communication program? Thank you for help!

anyone knows?

The CCT Master’s Program at Georgetown has a very strong national and international reputation as one of the most unique and respected programs of its kind. As you describe, it is extemely interdisciplinary in nature and capitalizes on the resources and stregnths of the university as well as Washington, DC. It does have theoretical foundations paired with a very real-world component and experienced faculty. The connections and opportunities through faculty as well as alumni of the program and Georgetown in general, as well as Georgetown’s extremely strong position in DC and internationally result in incredible internship, research, and employment positions for the students in the program. BU is strong in communications but does not offer the same type of program as CCT and does not carry the same prestige and results as the Georgetown program.

Thanks very much! It seems you like Gtown a lot~ Does CCT focus on research and theoretical studies of new media? I guess BU’s communication is a very different program which emphasizes pratical application of communication skills. Am I right?

CCT has a good balance between theory and practice–all of Georgetown’s programs, for the most part, have a strong practical focus/component, utilizing resources and faculty from the Washington, DC and international communities. Graduates of the program wind up doing incredible things (check out the program’s website in this regard, if you haven’t doneso already). I can tell you that people in the program, and graduates of the program, have commented positively on the theory-practical balance. I cannot speak to the BU programs.

Thank you! I’ve read all the info on the program’s website and now I think I MUST find out what I really want because these two programs are very different. I really appreciate your help~
