Hello, I'm a first-year freshman from ERC. I'm majoring in Human Biology. I was previously known as IRAN.4 on this thread and I hope they don't delete this thread of mine because I am here to help out the same people who had the same worries I did when I was in their situation, at the end of senior year and about to graduate.

Ask me anything from school to girls to location to the gym to showering to where to eat to ANYTHING!!!

Wow this is awesome... Im so shocked that i dont noe what to ask xD Well... let's see... Do I have to finish all the GEs before taking upper division classes?
What classes do other people usually take in their freshman year? Do u know anyone who had successfully transfered out of Revelle, and with what excuses ?? Yeah, I realized there's a lot thread on this forum about switching colleges but Im actually looking for a useful reason cause so far, the only thing I can think of is telling them I could graduate 2 quarters earlier if I switch out of Revelle, but I highly doubt that'll help. Thanks

well, since the OP decided to go AWOL, i guess the rest of us should step in and help out the new prefrosh ...

@Scout05 - i think your question is a little too detailed for anyone on this forum to answer in good confidence. best to bring it up for a fin aid counselor if you're concerned, though my [unofficial] guess is that choice of living situation is not a big priority from the govt's point of view. they're more interested in how much money you/your parents have, what your school is asking, etc. besides, you're not going to save all that much by living off-campus. (and i wouldn't recommend it, either, esp if you're a first-year)

@kirbxy - no. what made you think that? many upper divs have no prereqs, so even freshmen can take them. other test into them -- a handful of them start off in ochem (chem 140a) in their first year, i was one of them. one of my roommates transferred revelle -> marshall. details are in previous threads. (go way back)

@tastybeef: beach. kayaking on the cheap at mission bay, esp their moonlight kayaking, ending with sea world fireworks. sea world. balboa park. zoo. wild animal park. TJ if you're over 18. open up any SD tour guide and start exploring!

@playdolove: no, no clear doors. some border on translucent, but you can always hang a pitch-black shower curtain if it makes you feel better (it might scare your suitemates a bit). no generalizing profs, though the ones i had were interesting (not in a bad way). i liked big classes -- more people to pad the bottom of the curve = less work on your part to maintain an A. there are studiers and there are partiers. only you define yourself. premeds range from quiet to annoying. i didn't befriend the latter. jr/srs live off-campus unless you've got a regents/millennium scholarship or got into the i-house lottery.

"i got a question. y did u change ur account name and why would people care?"

So no one would reconize him, he was the pesterance of the board last year."

And in reply to kribxy, I do know someone who got out of Revelle, but part of that was because she's a double majored and minored and they were all humanities, so they allowed her not because of the HUM series, but because all the science requirements would have put her over the five years she is already here for. She's a fifth year now, but I think she changed colleges as a second year, not a first. SO, no luck with getting out of Revelle housing.

How can I get involved in the research programs? My major is in the physical sciences and even though Im good at the physical sciences, I want to work with biological sciences as well.

Thanks Astrina. I wonder where the OP went. lol.

I have another question. Anybody can take it :)

I've heard that the differences between the 6 colleges are the GE requirements, but are the major requirements also different? For example, If you are a bio major at Revelle, do you take the same classes that pertain to your major in order to get your BS degree as someone who is a bio major at Muir?

most people don't live in la jolla proper (as in, down the hill and into mansionland), they head for UTC, clairemont, and mira mesa (with the necessity of owning a car increasing as you get increasingly farther out). the general consensus is that living off-campus is cheaper and loads more fun -- assuming you've already made your friends in your first two years on campus.

nothing to worry about, you're still years away!

westcoast88 - are you a senior transfer student waiting to hear from SDSU as stated in your prior posts in March or are you a sophomore at UCSD in ERC as you state above?!? I think most kids take CC pretty seriously and it's truly a waste of time for both you and readers if you're just fooling around pretending to be something you're not!!!

Sucks for us winter admits, I called and was told they most likely won't be bumping any of us up to fall this year.

My biggest problem with being a winter admit is not having on-campus housing. Oh well, I'll have to deal with it.

Well, saves my planned call. And yah, seriously, the off-campus thing is going to be so bummer. I can already imagine the hassle with late buses / wasted time.
