Ask Me GATech Questions?

Hi I took classical physics 1 at GATech and heard modren physics is easier. Would it be better if I take modern physics 2? I am ee major.

I was wondering how heavily Special Circumstances were noted during the admission process. In mine, I explained why I had difficulties with a course I took and noted that I still completed the course even though I could have dropped it for an easier one as it was not required. I also stated that a large contributing factor to my not-so-stellar grade was the fact that after repeatedly requesting help from my instructor, I received none. Is that an automatic blacklist waiting to happen? I am really worried about this as it is my dream to attend Tech. (I’m a girl who wants to go to their business school for my accounting degree)

Hi there! Have you ever heard of anyone double majoring in environmental engineering and biology? Do you think it’s possible? (for someone with at least 16 AP credits, possibly 29 by the end of this year if all the exams go well)

Thanks! :)

Where can I find info about Tech’s core curriculum?
Thanxx =)

Is it possible to switch major in freshmen year or before starting the semester? If yes, how?

Do you know anything about the Building Construction program?
Is it worth transferring into?
Or should I just try to transfer into an engineering program?

I am an out-of-state student, so I get charged with a high cost of attendance for my freshman year. But, if my family moves to Georgia for permanent residency before my sophomore year at GA Tech, will I be able to pay in-state tuition beginning my sophomore year?

Also, what is GA Tech’s freshman meal plan like?

If your parents move to Georgia (and you are under 24) they will issue a tuition differential waiver that basically reduces your tuition to the in-state rate (though you’re still classified as out-of-state). This isn’t immediate, though. To get the waiver, your parents must live and work in Georgia for 12 consecutive months. So if they move during the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year, the earliest you could request the waiver is the summer between Sophomore and Junior year.

I am applying to tech next year, and am hoping and praying that I qualify as a ps scholar semi finalist, and then finalist. Otherwise, based on financial aid, it would probably cost my family around 30-34k per year, leaving me with around 128k debt at graduation. I don’t know if we can afford that, so my question to you is: how much money do you think study abroad/ co-op programs save a student on average? (I plan on trying to do both). And do these programs prolong graduation, or is it still possible to graduate after only 4 yrs with co-op and/or study abroad? Again, thanks for your time!

-my opinion as a liberal arts student at GT
-overall the liberal arts program is unique for its blend of scientific thought, technological innovation, & emphasis on communication and creative thought- this background prepares you with good analytical skills greatly sought by workforce and gives you freedom to make your major specific to your individual interests
-Other students regard Ivan Allen Students with respect, though sometimes major names require a bit of explanation.
-employment starting salaries at Tech average at about 50,000. Much like engineers from GT, employers seek Ivan Allen graduates for their hard work ethic/strong technical skills acquired from this school

I have heard that GT converts ACT scores to SAT scores, but I can’t find the conversion anywhere on my Buzzport account. Does anyone know where I can possibly find their conversion? It would extremely help. Thanks.

I will get my BS in chemistry and mathematics from an out of state school, can I go to GA Tech to get my BS in chemical engineering after I graduate? I’m an in state resident.

@cytochrome: why would you want a second BS? Why not apply for your master’s degree instead :)

K this is my question!!! How competitive is sorority rush at GT? I’m looking to rush next year, but I’ve been living overseas for a really long time so getting recs is gonna be killer :frowning: Is it really hard to receive a bid? I’m not picky about which sorority and I’m definitely going in with an open mind (partly cause I’m not biased, partly cause I don’t know much about them HAHA) but I’ve heard of schools where everyone gets a bid and schools where even being a legacy isn’t enough, so I’m lost :D
