Ask me questions about Boarding School!!

I know I'm a newbie, and not alot of people have this up, so I'm just going to start this thread.

I'm not going to say what boarding school I go to, because Really it doesnt matter. But mine is the best...just putting that out there lol.

But anyway, most boarding schools are the same, but different in a little way. My school does have Harkness, so feel free to ask anything about that.

If you have more than one question please number them, and I will get back to them as soon as I can=)
I will try to answer by order, but if one is by far the easiest, I will answer that one first.

Okay....BRING IT ON! lol

What School Do You Go to ?

what type of volunteer work (if any) did you do?

How long did it take you to make friends? Are your friends close or just friends? Are you still homesick?

how are the social cliques there? are mostly everyone friends?

Um… not to burst your bubble or anything OP, but I’m a bit wary of your possible trollishness… you know, because we have no idea what school you go to [which seems a little sketchy]. Sorry if that was very blunt or rude…

I agree with IBB :)

Well, I dont even know what a ■■■■■ is so, I’m just going to skip that lol. Are you calling me ugly or something?

But like I said, I’m not saying which boarding school it is, not because i want to be mean, its just to show that the school doesnt really matter. But i promise at the end i will. Wait till…question 50. And I will answer that question. If you ask again lol

1.how are the social cliques there? are mostly everyone friends?

Now, yes. There are cliques. I think at every school it is. But at my school almost everyone hangs with everyone. Cus its a small school. but that doesnt mean everyone is best friends. Some people dont like other people. And others just have plain attitudes(those are the people you see sitting at lunch and dinner alone) But social cliques. I dont think there are. Except for the asians. It seems as if they only hang with asians and no one else. I suggest if you are asian, try to stay away from that. Try to expand to different cultures. Thats the whole reason your there. But thats the perspective from my school.

2.How long did it take you to make friends? Are your friends close or just friends? Are you still homesick?

Now it depends on how long it will take you to make friends. Cus some people are different. But im really outgoing. So I made friends on the first day i was there. And i suggest, if you have a chance to go to preseason, do it. Because it makes you feel so good to know a lot of people on the first day of school. And its pretty cool too. Now do I have close friends. Yes! I do. The first girl I met, me and her instantly clicked and were like always together lol. Do i get homesick? Yea, I do. Cus im all the way on the east coast and im originally from the west coast. I kept it in for a long time, but then i just cried when i was on the phone with my mom. It will come sooner or later. And for me, its reallly weird being classified as the “Cali” Girl. Its just ugh! lol. But it doesnt make me not want to be here any more.

3.what type of volunteer work (if any) did you do?

DO NOT sign up for last minute volunteer things and clubs just to get into the school. They dont want that! Now its nice if your active in school and a little outside, but the whole reason for you going to Bs. is so that the school shape you into the college material with their academics and extra curriculars. Just be yourself.

Hopeful I answered you guys questions good enough. I did my best.

How did you do on the SSAT and did you instantly ‘click’ when you toured there?

I agree with IBB and swissbrit… we really would like to know what school you go to!

4.How did you do on the SSAT and did you instantly ‘click’ when you toured there?

I did well. I got in the mid 80 percentile. Did I instantly “click”…no. I thought it was a nice school. And the vibe was something I liked. Everyone was friendly and open. And I didnt get abnormal stares when I came to visit.like other schools. And plus I liked the location. To me, location is everything. I mean, I rather be by a small school, with a fair amount of endowment, by a big city, than be somewhere in the middle of nowhere. That is unreal to me. I turned down the other schools because it was not something i liked. And some were just horrible when I visited.I dont mean the campus, I mean the diversity, the obvious spoiled kids, and the unappealing hooks. I mean, I applied and visited the school that looked perfect on paper. But then when I visited, I was highly disappointed. IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I mean for me, I have to be close to civilization, close to the city. The school I go to has so many resources because its close to the city, and we get opportunities that I bet no one else has. I remember in class when they told us about the history, and it was so cool. Michael Jackson came to our school back in the eighties to shoot one of his videos. And then throughout his life, he would donate to the school. Cool, I know. lol

Dude, I’m going to tell you. When we get to question 50. The whole reason I’m doing that Is because I want to show you a perspective of a school, that you dont know the name of. Because if i told the name, people would automatically want to go just because of the name. Did you know there was a survey( it was of colleges) and they took off the name, and just displayed the stats? And on this survey there was a few number of people that actually wanted to go to the ivys and more to regular colleges most people have never heard of.

Now that doesnt give you a hint on where I go, because it could be Lville, it could be hotchkiss, exeter. Its unlimited. But i want to see what your questions are. And if it is a school. Based on my experience would you go?

How much is your workload per day( number of hours.) How many hours of sleep do you get per day on average? Are the sports more competitive compared to your old school?

What school do you go?

How much is your workload per day( number of hours.) How many hours of sleep do you get per day on average? Are the sports more competitive compared to your old school?

Well. My work load recently has been soooo much. Actually my school is one of the most stressful independent schools. The average amount i sleep varies. Because, this is how it goes. We have 2 hrs to do homework, it is every school night from 8pm to 10pm. Now this is not structured. You can of course start early, or go over. That for sure doesnt mean that thats how much homework you get, because it varies. Everyday you have a different class because its block schedule. On mondays you usually have all your major classes(english, language, math, etc) and then during the week, you have those classes are your major classes and minors spread out. On tuesday thru thursday you have only three blocks. That doesnt mean you have three classes because there might be a free period in there somewhere. But that is a whole different subject if you want to learn deeply into the school. The amount of sleep i get is usually around 6-7 hrs, because sometimes i have a lot of homeowork and sometimes I don’t. And plus you want to hang out with your friends.

The sports are very competive. We are not so centered on sports, but it is really getting there. because this school is more dedicated to performing arts, sports wasnt a main factor. But the school is starting to get very serious in the sports department. We have kids that are artsy, that are atheletes, that are actors, that are math geniouses, and that really just want some where to be. The school you go to depends. But the sports compared to my other school, its not a comparision because my other school was public, and we were really into everything.

PLease keep asking questions!!!

what school do you go to?

Also, this is not directly about BS but more about the process…how did you prepare for the SSAT’s?

Thanks, LoveIsPeace. You are right-sorry for pushing you.

A few more questions if you have the time: How close are you with your teachers? Does your internet shut off at a certain time? Is there enough time on the weekends to see family, either by going home or having them visit you?

Again, thanks for the answers!

Time to use analytical skills. LoveisPeace doesn’t go to Deerfield or Hotchkiss because of the rural factor. Not L’ville because study hall isn’t between 8-10 there. Not Andover either because of the schedule.

■■■■■ ■■■■■ ■■■■■ ■■■■■,
its so obvious newbies yall gotta get your collective heads straight

how am i a ■■■■■. can some one explain what this is? im not on here much. but i thought i could help some people but if you dont want me to thats fine.Go on the process by yourself. which is very hard i might say unless your the son/daughter of donald trump. so please stop hco. your not even applying, so your input is unnecessary.

for my askers, i will try and answer those questions as soon as possible.

I like how your trying to guess where i go to school. Its funny how some people are so into names. theres no way you could find out. theres too many bs around the world.

^judging by his location I think that Hcos is already at a rigorous BS

Do you mail email or call your parents?
Do your parents come to games?
