No forced triples on newton campus. Unless that’s changed.
@goodjob my daughter lived in Newton last year. Not gonna lie the bus was in many ways annoying but she knew all the kids on the bus were freshmen and in the dining hall and there’s a lot to be said for that instant comfort of not worrying about looking uncool to an upper classman even if it shouldn’t matter lol. This year she’s constantly saying she misses the Newton dining hall and it’s lack of lines!!
@havingfunismy like @privatebanker said, no forced tripes on Newton!
@Cavitee I’m not a finance major, so my experience might differ from those of finance students. I started the job search process in fall semester of senior year (after having internships and jobs over the previous summers focusing on what I was interested - tech), and I accepted my job offer in early spring semester. I found that the majority of my friends (both in CSOM and other schools) either had a job lined up or accepted admission to law/med/grad school by the middle of spring semester.
Regarding finance in particular, I know the top IBs (JP Morgan, Goldman, Citigroup, BofA, etc) come to campus to recruit students starting their junior year. I personally didn’t like the finance route but many students follow that track and benefit from CSOM’s vast resources and employer connections.
There no forced triples in Newton per our visit there in October.
Thank you all for comments about the Newton dorms! —— I was concerned about freshman being isolated away from the main campus, but it seems like a lot of them use it as a “bonding” experience…
Don’t worry about Newton at all. Yes the bus is a pain but the Newton kids get really close and the dining hall is one of the best. My daughter loved her time on Newton. Also, for CSOM, there is a class called sophomore accelerator where you practice interviewing, elevator speeches, resumé writing, etc. Take that fall semester so you’re ready for early interviewing.
Thank you for that information about Newton! BTW, I saw that Carroll got some great marks in the new Poets & Quants survey:

What is the party/social scene like? And also how strong is the emphasis on community service and stuff like that? do most people really do it?
I can only speak to the social scene as a freshman but honestly it just depends on who you know. A lot of people get into parties (in the mods especially) because they have upperclassmen friends. It is a lot easier for girls then guys to get into parties but even then joining clubs is your best bet at getting in.
Is there a wellness / substance free dorm? If not, be honest how awkward is it if not into drinking?
Yes there are living and learning communities and one is substance free. But double check. There is m also a women’s option. Special dorms with individual focus. And I believe there is a dorm section focused on recovery, if that’s a desire for some.
Don’t get me wrong. Kids can find their own circles and like any college campus there is drinking. Drugs not so much. Others can comment but I don’t even think you’ll smell a lot of weed. And partying is more confined to
fri sat. Some stretch to thrusday too Most it’s only fri and sat.
Freshman year especially in sciences and csom is no joke. There’s plenty of Saturday studying too especially after the initial month or so letting loose. The workload is serious
And not all a problem in general dorms to be substance free. Actually not at all. Drinking is like any other college but no Greek life and a lot of parties for freshman and sophomores are at other schools, tons of kids don’t go.
Tailgating is generally very fun and has more of a drinking element to it. But plenty of students just go to the game. To each his own.
There is plenty of partying at BC, but also plenty of serious academic students who party only every so often so they can keep up with their coursework. As long as you are social, no one cares if you have a hard drink or just a sparkling water with a lime.
Do you have to buy a membership to the gym or can you just go if you’re a student there?
Free
^^small nit: no extra charge for admittance full time undergrads, but part-timers and grad students need to pay. There are some separate fees for classes, however.
