ah crap, i took chem1a spring 07

i have phil 3 books

aww man. Boo! lol
anyone have the math 1a? :)

sunsurfN_sand: oh wow thanks for updating on me about that... didn't know the chem1A students of fall 07 with stacey are going to use a totally different book...

Just to confirm, students need to bring their own ethernet cable?
And is WIFI available inside dorms (Unit 3)?

Did anyone had a discussion class right after intermediate PE class?
I'm about to take a math discusison right after a PE class. I was just wondering if anyone had that kind of experience - how tired are you after the exercises?

Help a confused freshie out, please?

The telebears website says that waitlists will be processed through the end of the 5th week of school. I'm waitlisted in sociology1, but it is a manual waitlist so although I was #30something on the waitlist, I'm not sure how likely it is that I will be able to get a spot in the class. In any case, my question is... if I am not able to be actually enrolled in the class until several weeks into school, what am I supposed to be doing in the intervening time? Just wait it out and see if I can get the class, start going to lecture if I actually do get it, and try to catch up? And if I don't get into the class, at that point, am I supposed to find another class to replace it or something..?

ditto pikasof question also... do the pe classes give you time to shower and change? Man, I have a seminar AND a math discussion following volleyball... :(

to confirm: YES students bring their own ethernet cable and you might want to get yours quite long (say 25 ft) so you can move around your room and maybe out into the hallway
unfortunately, u3 does not offer wifi in their lounges, they however, have around 3-4 ethernet ports...unlike u1 and u2 where wifi is provided in the lounges
if i remember correctly, cafe 3 has wifi, not sure though.

aw 23481: if its a manual list, then its best if you go on the first day of class and talk to the professor or whoever is incharge of the waitlist (sometimes, it can be an advisor in that department)
in the mean time, you should keep going to class to show your interest and enroll in a backup class that is not withing that time frame
if you don't get into socio1....there are always decals =D

any other suggestions people?

btw, pikasof....i had the same dilemma last semester, i was enrolled in step aerobics and had discussion right after but the building was pretty far away from my step aerobics class so i dropped it
however, my friends say that they do give you time to shower and change, its just a matter of how fast you can do it and if your next class is within close radius.

THanks sunsurfN_sand!! I'm going to have to run from the recreational center to Cory. Hahaha fun rush... so I'm considering changing my discussion class... xD

Another question: In the Food for Thought classes, do you finish the class and then go for lunch/dinner or does the dining time include time spent in class? If it is so.. I HAVE to change my math discussion time...

No offense, but this is a horrible idea. I can't imagine why you would need more than 10 feet.

That's pretty strange...I never knew that before. Apparently there's only WiFi at Cafe 3 and the Academic Center.

Depends on how large the class is. Wait until around the first day of classes (might want to think of a backup class in the meantime) and see where you are. If you're 10-15 you're probably in. Go to lectures for a while and talk to the professor if the waitlist moves slowly...usually they try to accomodate everyone.

in response to the length of the ethernet cable
im suggesting it because urdorkk asked about unit 3...if he/she happens to want to use internet in the study lounge and the nearest port is taken, then he/she would need a longer cable to reach ports on the other side of the room (sometimes 10 feet isn't long enough if the closest seats are taken, trust me, my friends do it all the time in ida sproul)

and about U3 only having wifi in cafe 3 and the academic center: that's what i said
i meant that only u1 and u2 offers wifi in their lounges + academic center =D

ah, U2 has Bono; what does U3 have? I guess long cables and wires.

Alritey, I'll go with a 25 footer..? wow that seems so long. lol

you dont have to, just suggestions from watching friends struggle ... although a 25ft cable might trip you up in your room if you don't wind it up nicely....all in all, it's up to you

From your post it sounded like you are suggesting people to go out into the hallway with their ethernet cable still connected to the port in their room, which just seems ridiculous to me. I can see how the lounge situation might come up, but still, you can stay in your room, go to a lounge on a different floor, go to the academic center, or go to a library. Imagine having an ethernet cable extending across the lounge...prone to tripping and troublesome. Maybe you disagree but I would not want to bring a long cable.

And I am backing you up. :)

lol, ok thanks for the backup =)

how's cheney hall (unit1)?

It's okay.

Hey cc'ers random schedule question. I'm currently waitlisted for Film Studies R1A. I'm not sure whether to sign up for another 4.0 unit course now or to just sit in on the class and talk with the professor. I'm number 2 on the waitlist (out of 8), so I'm hoping that's enough to get in? Thanks in advance
