Back to the backpack question, should I get a laptop backpack or should I just get a laptop sleeve and put it in a normal backpack? Getting a sleeve is a much cheaper option for me, but I am wondering what is more advisable.

If you have a backpack that can fit your laptop, then I suggest just getting a sleeve for it. If your old backpack is too worn out or it's too small, then get a laptop backpack.

i think you should get a laptop backback with decent protection. realistically a sleeve only protects from scratches. besides there are very affordable laptop bags you can guy targus is pretty good.

hey! could someone please tell me the ammenties Cal provides students with at the Stern residence?

@Innov: Living at Cal - Stern =

I'm confused. Is the monthly payment for living in the dorms taken out from CARS or am I supposed to pay for it out of my own pocket?

You still pay for stuff out of your pocket if it gets charged to CARS (it's just that sometimes people have credits on their CARS account and don't have to pay out of their pocket). You'll see the housing costs charged to your CARS account when you look at your E-Bill.

Just making sure, is it correct to say that students who are double-majoring have a 136 unit ceiling for graduation rather than the 130 unit for single majors (in other words, six extra grace credits)?

if i arrive @ 10am for move-in day. how fast do you think i can move-in? is 1 hour a good time frame? i gotta move-in fast and then drive my car back to socal to catch a flight from ontario to oakland.

^ there'll be lines for everything... waiting for parking, getting room keys, then for elevators. An hour is a stretch... maybe factor in some extra time.

I was 2nd floor Priestley last year so everyone just ended up moving stuff up stairs. But since you're on the 8th floor waiting for elevators will account for most of your wait time.

If I arrive at around 1 or 2pm will lines be greatly reduced or just slightly. And I also am on the 8th floor. I really dont care what time I get there so I am really wondering at what time frame, before 5pm, is there the least waiting.

Wow, I forgot that move-in for the res halls is next week. I just finished moving into Channing/Bowditch. No wonder it was such a pleasant experience. But, then again, maybe it was all just a dream..... Nope, I am definitely here.

I'd say after 1-2pm, it's pretty empty. The roads are packed until 12pm at least.

Yea, arrive in later afternoon, unless you want to get here really early. I think 1pm or later is best, traffic is less, and it shouldn't be too difficult to find a parking space. However, if you haven't talked to your roomies you may get stuck with top bunk (which I actually preferred!) or whatever.

really? dang.. i heard that arriving early is less packed.. dang.. hmm. alright.

Weird question, but on move-in day, do we (and our parents) get breakfast and lunch for free or do we have to pay for it?

D:

I know that lunch is free, unless they changed things, because my parents and I had free crappy lunch at Foothill. You should take a look at the reshall site for information about move in day and the information about DC lunches.

Already looked at it. The only "free" word I saw was complimentary, and that was for dinner.

Now I'm kinda stuck with my schedule because there doesn't seem to be any available spots in every class. I'm waitlisted to an English R1A class, so is there any advice to what I should do? I'm signed up for only 9 units right now.

This is a couple days old but didnt see another response to it... sign up for something else. You will not get in to an r&c at this point.

Hey there. sorry to sidetrack a bit. May i just ask if there';s anyone here who entered UC Berkeley through IB? if so, would 35 suffice to enter into the Business undergraduate program?
