How’s the financial aid for an OOS with 65 EFC? I have a huge fear that I’m going to be screwed, if I don’t win any scholarships, not that I couldn’t win any. Cal is pretty much my dream school, and I would be pretty heartbroken if I couldn’t go due to financial limitations.

I also have a financial/merit aid question. My family probably has enough money to afford UC berkeley, but a years worth of tuition would probably take up a good 1/4 to 1/3 of our income and with my sister going to grad school (possibly northeastern) it would set us back even further.
I live in ohio, so I already have a lower leg by being out of state and transportation costs would be pretty high in itself. Any idea if it can be in a more reasonable range if I can get recruited as an athlete and have great ECs and good grades/scores?

DavidRicardo, theoretically what I have been told happens is that you have your EFC you’re set to pay (in your case $65) and then after that financial aid is to cover it all, between loans and something like Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship (it’s this scholarship that I have been told covers the difference between your EFC and whatever financial aid you already have). Also, when you get accepted, there is a website where you can check possible financial aid and decide from there…so only a couple more months and you can know for sure. If you still have questions I suppose you could call the Berkeley Financial Aid Office, though I’m not sure how willing they would be to help you and plus, it’s usually a really long wait on the phone.

I have heard something about a “UC GPA” that UC’s calculate themselves? Could someone please elaborate on this?

If you mean GPA used when applying for admission, you probably mean [this GPA calculation](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/california-residents/statewide-path/scholarship-requirement/index.html).

only your sophmore and junior GPA counts. But make sure you don’t get less than a 3.0 for senior year

Upon looking at that link ucbalumnus posted, i found this.
What is this visual/performing art requirement? I don’t think I have that?

Ask your counselor what classes in your high school will fulfill the art requirement. If he doesn’t know, then god help you. Also, I heard on this forum that engineering high schools don’t have to fulfill the art requirement.

The [Master of Financial Engineering](http://mfe.haas.berkeley.edu/) program at Haas School of Business is an approximately one year program.

I have a question about Financial Aid. I am eligible for Blue & Gold Opportunity Plan and my award summary at this time is about $3000. There are still about $3000 in my balance. Should I wait or pay the balance now? B&G Plan covers up to $10,302 in 2010-11 so how does that work? My total aid is $9400 for 2010-2011. I am a Spring 2011 Junior Transfer student.

Oh okay I have 1 year of art classes so I am fine. I’m a bit scatter-brained from a string of nearly all nighters. I thought it meant that you needed to have some sort of art credit as in like the classes you take to be in a play. Ahahaha, all this hard work better be worth it.

What are the admissions officers’ opinions on students who show an upward trend?

Like when I was a freshman and sophomore, I got 2 B’s every single semester, but as a junior, I got straight A’s/ 5.0 both semesters.

Not to mention I took all honors/ MYP/ IB classes all four years and go to a pretty competitive school. I cared about school as an underclassmen, but I think I just sat down and got my priorities straightened out as a junior.

may i know if any previous students who got the supplemental questionnaire and if you were accepted or reject? and what type of questions did u have?

If I don’t feel comfortable blazin out of my mind am I welcome. And what is Greek Life really because I’m under the impression that it’s a bunch of drunk seniors who treat you like a 12 year old on Xbox and somehow it has to do with drinking… well that how media describes it haha

Who got into Berkeley with the supplement. I got the supplement and i want to know the odds of me getting accepted through that. I also got good grade and good everything else.

For anyone who’s taken mcb 102 over the summer with urnov, what’s your opinion? I want to take it so I can focus on that class only for summer but I hear bad things…

Do you think Cal is better than Stanford? And why… I’m looking for some good answers, thanks :)

I’ve always wondered something, has anyone heard of someone getting reprimanded for downloading through AirBears? I have comcast internet at home and my dad always gets unnecessarily paranoid when he receives an infringement notice. Plus AirBears is faster, I think.

How soon can we change our majors if we’re accepted? The major I intended to apply to is still in the same college… L&S.
