Transfer course work can be used to satisfy breadth. You have to match up your transfer course work to the School of Business breadth requirements to see which ones you have fulfilled and which ones you still need to take, because having IGETC does not automatically fulfill the breadth requirements for the School of Business.

Most science and engineering majors live in Foothill because it is close to the engineering/science buildings on campus. Living in the Units would involve an uphill trek to class, while living in Foothill involves maybe a 5 minute walk or less to science classes. Foothill is definitely the nicest area to live in IMO; it is much more peaceful than the Units and is surrounded by nature. The Foothill DC is also much better than Crossroads and Cafe 3. As for partying…Foothill remains quiet on the weekends while the Units are often disturbed by drunken people and loud parties.

I am interested to know how the education, or more less, the professors teach here. Is the focus primarily on research or teaching. I am debating between a couple of schools and due to my learning disability I really need to have class room interaction and learning. Thank you for your responses.

@callian
I have a 3.85 W and a 4.33 UW. I’m in a special health academy that is basically dealing with public health. I’ve done presentations and health fairs all over my local community. That is basically what I discussed in my essay and how my late grandmother influenced me to pursue a career in public health. Is it really about test scores? Doesn’t Cal practice Holistic Review?

Hey! I’m a current first year student, and I wanted to ask a few questions about Telebears.

So basically, from what I’ve gathered, no one really 100% knows how it works. xD But what I was wondering is, I’ve heard that having a declared double major helps your time out. Is this true? I’m currently only declared in one of my two majors, but I’m planning on declaring the other one next semester.

Also, where should I go to get the school moving on having all of my AP/IB scores updated in their system? =.= I’ve sent my scores to the school multiple times, and they got all of my AP tests to appear on Bearfacts already, but for some reason, they randomly just have one of my IB scores up (even though the printout for IB scores lists all of my other scores as well).

I was accepted into the College of Natural Resources and I only wanted to go to the College of Letters and Science. How easy is it to transfer Colleges within Berkeley?

Hey dear OP!!! I apologize in advance if my questions have been asked (I’m quite sure they are :()… pardon me but I just find it terrifying to read through 126 pages :p!

I’ve 2 questions

scheduling classes.
I heard that many people fail to get the courses they want becoz of the huge student population and they have to wait for a very long time until the courses are available again? and some may go as far to say that they can’t graduate in time due to the scheduling problem. please tell me it’s not true!

2.internships.
For this one I read your reply above. my question is about company internships specifically. Do Cal engineering students have access to them? Do many many many awesome students compete for perhaps 1 or 2 company internships?

Thank you very much!! You are really knowledgeable :)

Punkdudeus,
what do u mean, first year close to campus classes. What happends second and third and fourth. ?? worried. housing at UCSD guaranteed all four but only two at CAL. where does everyone go 2nd, 3rd 4th years?

Most non-freshman students live in apartments, houses, or co-ops near campus. It can be significantly cheaper, and many students do not care for the dining hall food, especially when there are good eating options in Berkeley.

So, one should have some knowledge of German or Scandiavian? to do as you suggest? what if primary language is ENG and two years of Spanish and three of Mandarin? how do you do what you suggest if never spoke, studied German? found a rhetoric 1B for this summer, it’s this or Math 54, or maybe should redo the Math 53 currently doing at the university here. so much easier here. Linear A and DiffeQ are two separate 3 credit semester classes that can be taken same semester for six, but at CAL they put them together for one four credit class - 54. better redo 53 fall, or not. its either 8 weeks Math 54 this summer or 6 weeks rhetoric this summer 1B. Does anyone believe the summer adjuncts are kinder and gentler graders?

thanks Energize. So there’s fewer sophomores living on campus. Are EECS majors avoiding frats to survive? what’s the rumor on the degree of insanity and abuse of the business schools’ three frats? what sorts of majors, guys , are in frats? all kinds?are some more for business, chem, engineering, etc. ? they specialize? are they stupid? do they cause bad grades? or let’s say , don’t helpfor good grades?

I plan to get acceptance computer science into UC Berkeley through a community college.
Berkeley City College is very close to UC Berkeley.
What is your idea about Berkeley City College?

Our son has a 2270 SAT reasoning score, is an AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Scholarship Commended, SAT 2 math 2 score 800, SAT 2 physics 790, SAT 2 Chem 750, president of VineVillageSolar.com a solar installation on a facility for people with Down Syndrome. His GPA is 4.4 weighted 3.76 un-weighted (but his college Calculus 1 and 2 courses and Brigham young independent study which were A’s)

He had no national competitions or high level research papers to provide.

He was accepted to Georgia Tech engineering, U of I UC’s James Scholar honors electrical engineering, Purdue electrical engineering, Rose-Hulman electrical engineering (nearly a full ride) and UC Davis. We expected him to get in to Berkeley, but alas it was not to be. He also did not get in to any of his “reach” schools i.e. Cornell, Stanford, Cal-Tech, MIT…

I’d like to know any information on what it takes to get into Berkeley Engineering as a freshmen and/or as a transfer student down the road.
