Hi there! I’m applying to Kent for this upcoming year(hope That I’ll be seeing you there). I was just wondering how long did it take to adjust to Satuday classes and the formal dress code. Thanks! :)

JerseyGirl999 - i thought I saw a lot of very privileged-looking kids during visit. I suppose that’s expected at a prep school. Is there enough social mixing among all students? Or is there a lot of self segregation into groups by wealth, or sport, or whatever?

What is the dress code?

Hi! I graduated from Kent this past June and stumbled upon this thread so I thought I would answer some of the questions.

SouthCtKid- It does not take that long to get used to dress code. I think it has actually taken me more time to get used to not wearing dress code than it did to get used to it four years ago! Saturday classes can be annoying at the beginning or when you see friends at other schools post about their free Saturdays but after a few months it becomes normal.

Dunphydad-Yes, there is definitely a lot of social mixing among the students. I found that there were a lot less cliques than there had been in my junior high and I had friends who were on every sport team and from every social background and location in the world. The students at Kent are very accepting.

Mathman1201-The dress code for guys is a dress shirt, tie, blazer, and dress pants. The dress code for girls is a dress or a skirt and blouse or pants, shirt, and blazer.

Please comment or PM me if you have any further questions about Kent. I had an amazing four years at Kent and would love to answer any questions you have about the school or my experience!

bookluver07

What type of SSAT score would I need to get in.

@mathman1201

Girls: if you wear a dress you have to wear a cardigan over it if its sleeveless if it has sleeves then you could just wear a dress. If you wear pants you have to have a blazer over them and seniors can dress code you (and they have no shame trust me)

GUys: blazer and dress pants and a tie

what bookluver said was true I have a lot of friends from different backgrounds and families but I mean yeah there are a lot of people who everyone knows have a lot money but I mean nobody asks like how much your bank account has and stuff. During dinner a lot of people sit with teammates and stuff. I know there is a hockey table, senior girls table, football table, but i have seen freshmen at the senior girls table so theres a lot of variety and everybody has different friends its pretty hard to have a clique because everyone hangs out with everyone

@Dunphydad

I think its like 60% or 70% percentile and up @jabaza

Woah long time no see! How’s Kent?

Do you know Stewart Cole?

AYEE! Kent is good it’s so much fun thanks for asking! Currently slumming it at home for break studying for finals but how’s school for you

@mrnephew

I have heard of two Stewart people but I don’t Think his last name is cole…I’m no social butterfly lol so I probably never met him or he graduated
@prepster1234

I’m sorry @JerseyGirl999 my friend Stuart goes to the Kent Hill School in Maine… Not Kent School

It’s ok @prepster1234

School is great! We go by trimesters, which means that there’s still another month and a half before the next finals roll around. Netflix is life right now, and more specifically Gossip Girl.

Chuck bass and blair Waldorf are life :x
@mrnephew

NOOO SERENA

I like her but chuck and Blair’s relationship is so cute and I’m prepared to fight you over this
