Lists a whole lot of scholarships in civil engineering. Any Mechanical Engineering scholarships??

@Seirsly‌ Whats OPP? Also… Are those companies easy enough to find?
Thanks

@iliveinmumbai I’m in elementary education, so I’m not up on what everyone does for internships/co-ops. I know someone in BCM that did an internship the summer after their sophomore year and continued to work for them during the school year and every summer, and will now be offered a job, but that was BCM, so I really don’t know.

@runner019‌ ohh…what’s BCM tho? :stuck_out_tongue:

OPP=Office of Professional Practice

@‌Ivvcsf haha yeah I realized that later :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks :smiley:

@iliveinmumbai BCM is building construction management. Basically, you learn how every aspect of construction works (usually you develop a focus on one thing - roads, bridges, sewers, buildings, etc.) and then you manage job sites, make bids on jobs (companies have to compete to get hired to build things), etc.

@runner019‌ ohhh… Thanks man… What is your major?

@Seirsly‌ do all engineering students have the same modules for the 1st year? Also, where can I find what all I have for FYE? Mind posting a link?
Thanks… :smiley:

Yes, except some may take computer science while others take chemistry due to major requirements.

@Seirsly‌ yeah I went to the same page… The thing I didn’t get was, as a computer engineering major, what all classes will I have to take? Won’t have to take chemistry right? :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ll have to take chemistry I, and maybe chemistry II (talk to your advisor for the “recommended” science selective).

Due to ABET regulations (I think) or just Purdue’s values, every engineering major has to have a broad knowledge of the sciences and math.

I’m a civil engineer and I’ve taken Chem I & II, and I will be taking Earth and Atmospheric Sciences 100. I’ve also taken micro econ, psychology, and chinese. I might take sociology. I’ll also have taken all the calcs, diff eq, linear algebra, and statistics.

@Seirsly‌ Chinese? You mean mandarin?
Is it required to take a language?
Thanks for your response :slight_smile:

No it’s not required. But you will have to take some social sciences and some humanities classes.

How are the job placements (for undergrads) in Purdue University if I take up Aeronautical engineering or Mechanical Engineering?

And also Is Purdue worth the money i.e. 45,000$ for INTL. students ( I am from India residing in Dubai).

Adding to #135 above,
How are the summer internship opportunities at Purdue?

Thank you Seirsly :smiley:

@maneendra296‌
Look here for job placements:

Depends. How do you define “worth it”.

@Seirsly‌ Thanks for the info.
About the money, Are the teaching standards and Academics,sports,Housing worth the 45,000$ a year for Intl. students.
Is Purdue University well reputed all over the world?
