Looking at the Selection Process on their website (www.scu.edu/johnsonscholars) I found that “Semi-finalist candidates will be notified by mid-February, and asked to submit an essay by February 25.” It’s not quite mid-February yet, so there’s still time, but if you would like more information from the program directly, I recommend contacting their office at johnsonscholars@scu.edu.
My son was accepted EA to SCU and offered a meager financial aid package compared to another acceptance. I remember reading somewhere that the EA financial aid was supposed to be “preliminary,” and that a final package would be given later. Do you know when we will get that final package? Do we need to send any updated financial forms?
Congratulations to your son! I don’t have that information, but the Financial Aid Office would be where you could find out. I would have you or your son send them an email at onestop@scu.edu, with your questions, your son’s name, and Ecampus ID number, so they have all of the information they need to look into your situation. You can also call them at 1-408-551-1000, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
In previous years, the regular decisions have come out mid March, so based on that alone, they will most likely go out mid March this year as well. The counselors give a flexible time range for the release of decisions in case last minute adjustments need to be made. The decisions are sent out on a rolling basis, so as the counselors hear back from students, they will send out more decisions.
Anyone know if SCU considers AP Test scores for admissions purposes? I sent them a message on their website a couple months ago about my AP Test scores because I forgot to enter them in on common app, but I never got a reply.
@TheRealTalq I’m not sure about SCU, but from what I know colleges in general do not consider AP test scores. They will consider the academic rigor, however.
@chuckncole@Wa11ace I was waitlisted as well but I was a little surprised because I thought I had the test scores and GPA and both parents as well as aunts and cousins went to Santa Clara. Do you guys mind posting your stats and major?
