@ethanvi You can’t take summer courses without enrolling. You can try to apply for summer bridge to get credits, but IIRC they do not offer Warren Writing in the summer.
I have a few questions,
I got into Warren for Psych (trying to become a psychiatrist) and I know usually there are stereotypes for each college. Can anyone give me a quick rundown as to the stereotypes for each college and dorms/dining? I’ve heard Warren is full of engineers and has the best dorms and worst food. Also, I was under the impression that food was included in tuition, and it was an all you can eat buffet style. How is dining at UCSD, is it included in tuition, and is it an all you can eat buffet like UCLA? Last question, which college do you recommend I eat at?
@takmmatthew: Tuition is tuition. Housing and Meal Plans are separate so expect additional costs for these.
Here is the cost of attendance which includes Tuition/Housing/Meals/Books etc…
Estimated Cost of Attendance: On Campus
CA Resident Tuition/Fees: $14,050
Which includes::UC Systemwide Tuition/Fees $12,630 UCSD Campus Fees $1,420
Housing and Meals: $13,307
Books and Supplies: $1,198

Meal Plans: https://hdh.ucsd.edu/housing/diningplan/pages/ResidenceHall.html
@takemmatthew I think there is a thread that you find for stereotypes on CC. If not, you can check the meme page. Dining is not like an all-you-can-eat buffet at any of the colleges. I prefer eating at The Village Bistro myself.
The first two years housing at UCSD is guaranteed.
What are the possibilities to get in campus housing for year 3 and 4?
What about out of campus options? Are they affordable? Close to campus?
@takematthew: This posting of the Residential stereotypes was more of a tongue and cheek that another UCSD student posted last year.
UCSD college personalities:
Revelle:
- tryhards and nerds
- GEs way too hard
- lotta international students
- smarter than Muir
Muir:
- hippie environmentalists
- too much spirit
- looks like a prison
- dumber than Revelle
Marshall:
- social justice warriors
- diversity or something
- they don’t have to take DEI
Warren:
- engineers
- smells like engineers
- food tastes like it was cooked by engineers
- cool bear tho
ERC:
- hot and spirited people
- fit bc they walk a mile to get anywhere
- GEs way way too hard
- parties
Sixth:
- there are no people here
- sixth is completely inhabited by raccoons
What is DE? I am an engineer/STEM who got Marshall.
What has your experience at Warren College been like? How is the social life? Is it true that there are a lot of engineers? Im a psychology major and I’m worried there won’t be anyone with the same major as me.
Does anyone know when financial aid is expected to come out?
Can you please describe the students and social atmosphere in Revelle? I was admitted into this College with a major in Literature in Spanish.
DEI is the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion requirement that most UCSD students must fulfill in order to graduate. You can take a wide range of courses to fulfill it. Its kind of just like a humanities/social science course in order to give students something to be socially, politically, racially conscious, etc.
@Kentriko
“What are the possibilities to get in campus housing for year 3 and 4?” Depends on a year by year basis, but they overenrolled last year and are not offering a potential on-campus housing waitlist for those who do not have a 4-year guarantee this year.
“What about out of campus options? Are they affordable? Close to campus?” From many of my friends, I heard that off campus is more affordable especially if you have a lot of people you want to split costs with. There are many neighborhoods close to campus however.
@road2college2018 I really like Warren! Socially the dorms are pretty great though most of your interactions would be with your suitemates. There are people of different majors in Warren, it isn’t all engineers. My apartmentmates are human bio and communications majors. I had a few poli sci majors in my suite last year.
@Interested1945 Sometime this week or next week. For your DEI question see thinkweism’s answer above.
@OCboy8 Suites in Revelle are very large (almost 16 people), so you will be around a lot of people. I can’t describe a specific demographic because everyone is different, but all of my friends in Revelle are very nice if that helps lol. Though with a major like that, you should see if it’s possible for you to graduate in 4 years.
Got Admitted into UCSD, Majoring in Economics (Revelle :/)
Do you know how easy it is to do a minor in something like Finance while doing Economics?
Any info you can give me on UCSD Economics would be really helpful
@TheAustralian I would think that finance and economics would be easy to pair together because of a lot of overlap. However depending on your AP credits it might be difficult to minor in Revelle (in general, though may be easier with your combo).
People have already been kind enough to give me insight on sixth college, my first choice, but it wouldn’t hurt to have more feedback. Anyone have any insight on being a pre-med (human biology) major in Sixth?
Also, I read in other forums that if you find another student willing to switch colleges with you, both sides can petition, so is there anyone who would like to switch from Muir to Sixth? I would appreciate it so much. Thanks! I look forward to attending this school
im a psych major at warren too!! you’re not alone @road2college2018
I have been accepted at UCSD for Math in Education. Is it easy to change major inside the same department? I may prefer, for example, Applied Math.
@Kentriko Yes, as long as the majors are in the same dept you can switch it freely
@takemmatthew awesome! Glad I’m not alone lol
How is the accounting minor at UCSD? I’m trying to decide between being an accounting major at UCR or accounting minor at UCSD.
