Ask Questions about UIUC Here!

So I just finished my sophomore year as a student in the UIUC College of Business and am pretty familiar with everything regarding the university. Looking to give back to incoming/transfer students, as many people helped me on here when I was deciding on Illinois. Ask me about transfer/admission odds, housing, campus life, programs to get involved in, etc. Happy to help! : )

A little about me: Finance and Accounting dual major, involved with greek life, a business fraternity and the investment banking program on campus.

Hi there!

So I’m an incoming freshman and was looking through the course explorer when I saw that a few classes could fulfill the requirements for more than one gen ed. I know some colleges won’t allow a class to count for both but couldn’t find anything on UIUC’s policy.

Would you know if one class can count towards more than one gen ed?

How selective is UIUC business school? Is it very selective as the engineering school?
What are average admitted gpa/sat scores?

Hi! @njiuhbv

Yes, one class can count for multiple gen eds. I actually recommend finding classes that fulfill multiple requirements. This will allow you to finish your general education courses faster and take easier classes, focus on your major classes or just take classes you think would be fun. I even took a class that knocked out 3 gen eds in 1, so there is plenty of opportunity to get ahead.

Hope that answers your question!

Hi! @SUNDAE101

So the UIUC College of Business isn’t easy to get into but not impossible by any means. From what I found my class in the CoB ranges from a 29-34 ACT (SAT 1360-1460). A higher high school GPA is also looked for, probably in the 3.70/4 range or above. They also look into extracurricular activities and other things that would differentiate candidates.

As for the College of Engineering, it is a bit more difficult for me to say. It depends on a lot of things, including which type of engineering you are look to apply for. More info, including a freshman class profile, can be found here: https://engineering.illinois.edu/admissions/undergraduate/index.html

Hope that helps!

What are the vibes at UIUC? What student would fit best at UIUC? Are there kids who don’t party? Are the premeds competitive or helpful?
