For the Common Application, if you chose to self report your SAT scores do you also need to send them the scores too?

How do I send my recommendations to CUNY and two of my private schools, Fordham and Hofstra?

I’m a freshman at Occidental College and I think I might transfer to Vassar, Wesleyan or Trinity College. It’s not that I hate Oxy so much as that I think Vassar would be better. I’ve lived in LA all of my life and I wanted to go out of state but I settled for Occidental because I wanted to be close to home just in case the transition would be rough and it gave me a good scholarship. Could I get in as a transfer applicant?

How much does ACT/SAT score weighs in the application?

Hi guys! I’m an international student and I just applied ED II. What is the ED II acceptance rate? Is it lower for internationals? Also, completely unrelated, how’s the party scene for freshmen at Vassar? Thank you

Unfortunately, it seems like we cannot get information about strictly EDII acceptance rate. We only know overall ED I/II acceptance rate.

There are lots and lots of events for freshmen including the parties. Because they don’t segregate freshmen with “freshmen dorms”, they are welcomed to most of the parties. Just don’t get carried away and end up in the hospital getting your stomach pumped.

@HitoWaMom haha thank you I do get carried away sometimes Is 47% the overall ED acceptance rate or just the ED 1 acceptance rate?

If that number is currently posted, that means EDI only because EDII acceptance hasn’t happened yet. If that number is from last year, it should be overall ED acceptance (both EDI and EDII combined).

Someone asked the same question last year(?) wanting to know the acceptance rate of only EDII but no one could find the information.

@HitoWaMom thank you

Help! I submitted my common application 2 days a go, and I realized that on the interested filed of academics, I selected Photography and Film instead of Mechanical Engineering. I don’t know why the heck I would select photography, but things just happened. I don’t know what to do now, I already sent an email to the college I made mistake, but should I call them and explain? I wrote about mechanical engineering from my essay to questions, I just accidentally selected photography and film. Gosh! hate myself now.
Are you in the right thread? Vassar has mechanical engineering? There is a 5yr Vassar has with an Ivy for general engineering.
What is the attitude toward veterans and ROTC cadets (those who enroll through Marist College) at Vassar? If I’m from a military background (I graduated from a military school) would it harm my chance to Vassar provided that it is a very liberal college?
I know that the West Point -Vassar initiative has been going well. I love Vassar for reaching out to veterans and military people in the past years, it puts much more effort in this than the other LACs. I only wonder if it is really open to military-minded people in admission
@rotckid, you note Vassar’s outreach programs then ask if Vassar is ‘really’ open to military-minded people. It might depend on what you mean by military-minded, but in my experience I think what they look for are good minds interested in learning. Obviously, there is a range, but Vassar students seem (on average) to work harder and be more serious about their studies than many of their peers at other colleges.
imo the biggest obstacle won’t be Vassar being ‘open to military people in admission’, it will be your comfort with the school. More than many colleges, Vassar ‘fits’ some people better than others- and it’s not really how liberal (or not) you are that is the key. If you aren’t sure, I strongly suggest that you visit the school and stay overnight in a dorm and sit in on a class- even visit twice if you can. If it feels right to you, apply.
Hey! I’m a regular decision International student.
I wanted you to tell me if I have a chance of getting in.
GPA: 4.67
SAT1: 1940, CR 610, W: 610, M: 720
SAT2: Phyiscs: 760 Maths level 2: 720
I had A levels and have all As in all my subjects.
I have 6 A*s and 3 As in my O levels.
I have a lot of community service. I have also managed projects and events. And I am a captain for my High school’s Teacher’s Assistant programme.
I also require a considerable amount of financial aid.
My teacher is a Vassar alum and she made me fall in love with Vassar. Please evaluate my chances of getting in?
@collegemom3717 Thanks for the insight!
I applied to Vassar already but unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to visit the college. What I wonder is as though Vassar is said to be open and accepting, the attitude towards military people might not be so… I’ve found it on an article dated several years ago in which an ROTC cadet at Vassar reported that strange people smiled to him more, probably because they didn’t want to be awkward staring at his uniform.
And another alum from the 90s said that people were a bit hysterical and even hostile toward him
Is this still true these days?
Given that there have been a cohort of vets admitted in the last 2 years I wouldn’t think so but to be fair, I think that one person in uniform will stand out in any non-military / non-ROTC campus. It might depend how much of who you are is defined by being part of ROTC- if that is the dominant element than you might be happier on a campus with more fellow travelers.
Hey guys, Is anyone currently enrolled as an art/architecture major?
I’d really like to know how they’re studio classes are.
I applied to Vassar and I am waiting to hear back. I haven’t had a chance to visit the campus but from what I have seen and heard it is an extraordinary one. The only hesitation that I currently have about the schools is that from what I have read online I am not the stereotypical Vassar student. I am a south Floridian, Registered Republican, I’m not considerably “artsy”, and I do not have a very Liberal mindset. I was just wondering if you do not fit into the typical Vassar student stereotype, will you still enjoy the experience? Are there any current Vassar students who could answer this? or any potential students who are in the same boat?
