Hey! Thank you guys for all the help!

So, I’m an accepted student at CMC, and I am considering enrolling there. Other than having an active student body and a great social life (which I know CMC has), I wanted to know how CMC’s International Relations program is and how it stacks up in comparison with other schools. I’ve heard of CMC being top-notch for IR studies and such, so I’d like to get a feel for how strong they really are – considering that’s what I want to major in.

Thanks!

Hi,
I’m at community college at Palos Verdes and I wish to transfer to CMC but my academic adviser told me the only math they would only accept for transfer students is Calculus I. This seems kinda absurd because CMC stated on their website that they follow the IGETC (Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum). For those majoring in the social sciences are required to take Statistics - according to the IGETC. My major is political science and philosophy and my question is it really required to go all the way to Calculus I regardless of your major (I’m in Intro to Statistics)?

This is my only concern.

Thanks

Calculus or Discrete Math is required for gradution

I’m trying to fill out the housing suvey… but I can’t find any specific place on the website that explains which hall/dorm goes in which quad? Is there somewhere where I can find the specific details for each hall? Thanks!

The dorms listed under each ANY_____dorm belong in that _ quad. But, here’s what I wrote from an earlier post that might help you out a bit.

List of Dorms: (=north quad, ^=mid quad, ‘=south quad)
Wohlford
Appleby*
Boswell*
Green*
Phillips^
Berger^
Beckett^
Benson^
Claremont^
Marks’
Auen’
Fawcett’
Stark’ (sub-free)

Quick definition:

North quad dorms: suite style set-up, 4 doubles connecting to 1 bathroom that has 2 of everything, 2 floors of dorms that all open to the outside. Centrally located and has a very social atmosphere.

Mid-Quad dorms: traditional style dorm with all dorms opening to the inside of the building. Long hallways with a big community bathroom in the middle of each floor (minus Claremont Hall) There are both singles and doubles.

South Quad (excluding Marks, which resembles a mid-quad dorm): Tall towers with singles and doubles. Dorms face in, the higher you go, the better the view. 1-2 bathrooms per floor (6 floors of each tower are dorms), about 12 people per floor.

I am currently living in Stark, the sub-free tower in South Quad. I would recommend it if you like to have your room has the main place to study. It’s very quiet and NOT like north quad. The bathrooms and rooms are especially huge here with potentially great views. I live on the 6th floor (out of 7) and I face south, so I can see all the city lights of Pomona and on. There are actuallly 2 bathrooms per floor and the bathrooms are very clean and spacious.

Negative: It can feel very anti-social on each floor. In essence, it’s what you make of it; but Stark is naturally set-up to make socializing harder. It’s not like mid-quad where you have rooms on both sides of the hallway and one restroom you share with all 30+ people on your floor. In Stark, you have to work a little bit harder to get to know your floormates.

Thanks so much! I also PMed you with further questions ;)

What are the GE requirements like ? How difficult are the science reqs for non-science majors ??

I was wondering which of the dorms have co-ed floors, and which ones have single-sex floors. Also, I think that I am interested in living in either South Quad or Mid Quad. Socially I am more on the shy side and might need a friend to drag me to social gatherings, at least initially. Does that make me a better fit for living in Mid Quad or the towers?

im wondering the same thing as ekigz… does claremont mckenna accept igetc?
