Sure thing. First, we have to define what suites we're talking about. There are suites in Foothill and Clark Kerr. I think there are a few suites in Stern as well. The "suites" in the units are called "mini-suites" and they are slightly different so I hope no one gets those two confused. Now, I've only visited the suites in Foothill, so I don't know if the suites in Clark Kerr and Stern are any different, but they should be pretty similar.

So, there's a main door that looks just like the door to any other rooms. When you open it you will see a hallway that's connected to a small room that acts like a lounge. It will have a lounge chair or two, maybe a bookcase, and you can study or just relax. There are doors on both sides of the hallway and they tend to be doubles. There should be about 6-8 rooms. It's just one room for two people. Walk further and there should be a bathroom for the entire suite with (if I remember correctly) two shower stalls and two toilet stalls. That's pretty much it. There's no kitchen with stoves or anything as far as I know. Hope that helps.

I was snooping around the Cal Housing website and found this drawing of a Foothill suite, which is pretty much what I described but it might help to see it:

There are also laundry rooms, a dining common, recreational rooms, student center, etc. at both Foothill and Clark Kerr, just not for each individual suite.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions.

Actually, there are a couple suites in each of the units. He has a suite in Freeborn, unit 1. It definitely is not a mini-suite. Thank you for the information though. We have been trying to e-mail different people but can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone at Berkeley. Since there are very few suites in the units, I guess Berkeley doesn't bother providing information about them.

I am quite certain that there are no suites in Deutsch, Cheney, or Putnam. I am doubtful that there are any in Freeborn and I certainly didn't see any during my visits there. At first I thought this might be a type or error or some sort. Then I decided to search the Cal Housing website a bit further and found this:

Eight floors of double and triple occupancy rooms, some triples in Suite.

This reminded me of a room I saw in Deutsch. There are 8 floors in Deutsch, all of them are hallway style. Except there was one room on the ground floor, next to the staircase / elevators. It's a triple room but it's huge compared to the regular triples; at least 2-3 times in size. It was one huge room with (I think) two floors and it might have even had a kitchen (don't remember). There is obviously no bathroom shared by the floor since it's the ground floor but there is a public-type bathroom right next to the room and across from the elevator (you know, the ones you see in a public place). I guess you would have to go to another floor for showers. There isn't really a loft but the room is so huge you could probably create one. This isn't what I would consider a suite but Berkeley may call it a suite, so the suite in Freeborn that you are talking about is probably the room I'm describing, because as far as I know floors 1-8 are all hallway-style.

This is similar to how the person at Calso described it. She said that there was only one suite per building and it was on the ground floor. She also thought that there might be a kitchen but was not sure. Thank you though.

Did anyone here get football tickets? I remember getting an e-mail a while back about FPF students getting free tickets to some of the games if they signed up for them on a certain day, but maybe I misunderstood it. Are tickets still available, because I think they went on sale a while ago?

i got football tickets :D they were available at 8:30 am...i actually woke up that early..NOT to get the tickets but for a piano lesson. still went on the site anyways =P

btw, they said it was free. i still had o pay around $6 lol

it wasn't just for FPF students. all incoming freshmen had the opportunity to get these tickets...

they were sold out that day soooo....definitely not available anymore. lol.

It should be free except the UCLA and Stanford game which should cost extra...did they change it? And did ALL the tickets sell out? I can't believe they sold out in one day...

well it was free but the $6 was like...handling charges or something like that. there were two other games that you could've bought also that were $40. my friend told me that she tried to buy the tickets at 8 pm that night and couldn't.....soo...yeeeeea.

You're not expected to have a calculator for math. You won't be allowed a calculator on exams and you won't need it for the homework problems (though it might be helpful on some problems).

As for class schedules, they're not gonna email you your schedule or anything. It's always viewable via BearFacts. You can print it out from there or or use something like FinalDistance or Aman's Schedule Planner.

You know, I don't remember if they let you use a graphing calculator for Math 1B. The classes on campus don't...but FPF classes might...you don't have to have one though, it's quite manageable without one.

And unfortunately FPF classes don't show up on BearFacts, so you're going to have to wait until they mail it to you, which I think is 1-2 weeks before move-in day.

the financial aid office told me that students actually have an extra 30 days after a due date for a payment to make that payment...does this apply just to regular admits or to fpf people also?

Do FPF people get to go to the Chancellor's Reception?
Yes you do and I think it's probably the most worthwhile event during welcome week so don't miss it. They have quality free food (never thought I'd have those 3 words in the same sentence), and the chance to socialize with other new students / tons of deans and professors.

also, how do we uhhh. use our loans for books? =/
It works like this: your loans cover your registration fees/housing fees so you take the money that you would have paid and use them to buy books.
