Asked for a letter of recommendation

So I emailed two professors a couple of days before Christmas asking if they could write a letter of recommendation for me for a summer internship I really want. One professor responded the next day saying yes. The other one has yet to respond. How long should I wait before sending him a follow-up email? It's winter break right now and he could be on vacation. I don't want to bother him, but the deadline for the application is Feb. 1. Advice?

You waited until the holiday break so you shouldn’t expect a reply so soon. It’s the holidays, people travel, don’t check their emails, etc.

Give it until the start of the semester and talk the them in person. Whenever you want a letter, always give advance notice especially during the holiday season.

Ok, thanks. I’m just afraid that he saw the email but was too busy to respond and ended up forgetting about it
