Asking for a LOR

I need some LOR's for scholarship applications.
Currently there are no profs I have personal relationship with.
Would it be weird if you asked for it to a prof whose course you aced but who never saw you in his office hours and don't know you personally? I know that LOR from such a prof won't be as strong, but it's just for a scholarship application. At least I asked him some questions through email. Will the prof think I'm weird for asking him to write it because he doesn't know me at all?

If it's a small, discussion-based class, you're fine. It's not important to have an extra-classroom relationship per se.

On the other hand, it might be a large, lecture-based class. In this case I'm not sure it's wise for a scholarship, although of course if you have no options, you have no options. What you can do to make up for it is ask him for a letter of recommendation, include any essays you've written for the scholarship along with other personal writing you've done, and offer (in fact, suggest) that he interview you as material for the letter.
