I’m only a sophomore in high school, but I really want to try out for this award. I’m pretty positive I know which teacher I’m going to ask: she knows me well and has had me for two consecutive years in a row.
The Aspirations in Computing award by NCWIT is for girls interested in computer science. As I searched around the website, I saw that only juniors and seniors seem to get this award… not lower classman (even though it says it’s for grades 9-12.) That’s why I’m a little hesitant to try.
However, I’m willing to give it a shot. I’m just unsure as how to ask. (I’ve never asked for a teacher recommendation before.) Should I ask her through email or in person? My teacher has classes right after mine and it’s kind of an lengthy explanation (if she ageees, I have to explain how she needs to sign up, what website, get her personal email, ECT.)
How do I word it? I was going to say something like: “Would you be willing to fill out a recommendation for me for…”
I feel like I’m overthinking this, but I don’t want to screw up as she’s my favorite teacher and I really care about trying for this award.
