I got an email from Georgetown that told me to schedule an interview with an alumnus whose contact info was also given. I know these usually take place in person (judging from the website, that's what Georgetown expects), but my interviewer lives 5 hours away so do you think it'd be alright to suggest a phone/skype interview?

Yes, I would imagine that is what they would have to do… I can’t imagine they would make you drive 2.5+ hours. Although you never know if they visit your area occasionally.

Many colleges are experimenting or embracing Skype. I’d certainly recommend this for your situation. Frankly, I find it unreasonable to ask you do drive anything over 60 minutes away.

My daughter skyped with somebody from Princeton for her interview.
