I've decided to apply for some private scholarships. I'm pretty sure all of my friends have already asked their teachers for letters of recommendation, and undoubtedly I'm at best slightly behind. Basically, I want to be able to ask for them w/o seeming like an inconvenience. Any tips?

Choose three of the following:
Do it now, waiting will make it worse. Prepare a good brag sheet that gives them the info they need, and saves them time.

Go to the same ones writing college recommendations, as they can probably do a revision of that quicker that writing one from scratch.

Express honest appreciation.

Slip them a Benjamin.

Just ask, as ^ said, waiting’s just going to make them worse. When is the deadline for the scholarship? Most teachers really don’t mien as long as you give them a week, which isn’t too bad. And hey, what’s the worst that can happen? They may jsut say they can’t meet the deadline, and they’ll probably still write you one, just not in time for what you need. Then if you absolutely can’t find a SINGLE person to write you one by your deadline, hey you’ll have one for later, sure it sucks, but lesson learned for future deadlines.

Depending on the deadlines of your schools your not really that late. I know some private schools have deadlines of January/February.
