Aspergers Support @ UCSD

Autistic Spectrum Student Support

A current parent of a UC San Diego student has arranged a “Yahoo Group” for families that have a student with an autism spectrum diagnosis. The purpose of the group is to support parents and family members who can then better support their Autistic Spectrum students. As many parents are aware, there are big changes from when a student was enrolled as a pre-College student and had the support of an Independent Education Plan. Now parents and supporters must navigate the college years with the right level of guidance so a student can become an independent and productive member of the college community and achieve their hopes and dreams after they graduate and enter the working world.

This group is a private electronic bulletin board for discussion among parents and family members with students who have been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. All discussions will be moderated by the organizer. Moderation will take place to ensure that student privacy is maintained. Any messages posted with identifying information about a student will not be allowed without detail removed.

Questions regarding the group can be directed to parents@ucsd.edu. For more information about the Office for Students with Disabilities (the office that assists students on the autism spectrum) see the OSD Web site.
