Assault/Harassment thread

In better news, one of Bill O’Reilly’s accusers is suing him. They had a settlement with a standard NDA. She says HE violated the terms of the agreement by saying publicly that the accusations by her against him were a lie. Fork it over, Bill! She is suing Fox too, and the harassment in this case was not sexual harassment. Just that he was an persistently abusive person to work for.

Oh, goodie. I’d love to see O’Reilly really get taken down.

I am not sure glee is how I feel. The only potentially good is that for the most part these guys are older and closer to end of career and perhaps that will make room for younger talent. But glee, no I don’t feel glee.

John Conyers is ‘retiring’ immediately. He wants his son to be appointed to replace him. (Seems like he thinks he’s entitled to a dynasty).

For those who wonder why a woman wouldn’t report her harassment, here’s why. Lauren Greene worked for Rep. Blake Farenthold, starting as an intern and working her way up to be communications director in five years. In 2014, she accused him of creating a hostile work environment by all sorts of nauseating sexual remarks, and says he fired her for raising those concerns. She was paid off from a fund that we the taxpayers pay for. Now not only is she unable to get a job in Washington, but she can’t get a job in communications anywhere. Farenthold is still in office.

Report harassment, lose your job, can’t get another job in your field, your harasser prospers. Sounds alluring, doesn’t it?

Conyers wanting his son to take over just shows how clueless he is.

I put off reading Billy Bush’s editorial for a few days but I’m glad I read it. He has good insight (something I never thought I’d say about him, lol).

Why isn’t Blake Farenthold retiring immediately?

People in his party don’t seem to object to him being in Congress.

There was something else objectionable that Farenthold did a few months ago. I can’t remember and it’s hard to search for with this recent news. It’s bugging me…

@greenwitch, it was probably this. https://www.texastribune.org/2017/07/24/texas-congressman-wishes-duel-female-republican-senators/

But if it’s not, just google stupid things Blake Farenthold said - there are a few more doozies.

Geoffrey Rush appears to be the next man to go down, though details are scarce.

It is a kick below the belt to you know…

Here we go - six women are suing Weinstein and his co’s executives for engaging in racketeering by covering up sexual assaults. Knicks owner is also involved. Copies of filed legal documents are in this article:

Oh, and Franken’s colleagues now want him out.

Danny Masterson, That '70’s Show. Just fired from " The Ranch".

This assault makes me ill. Basically two men sit down uninvited in a booth and one of the seriously molested a woman.

I believe here in MA that would be rape. Can’t see why the guy just got probation to be clean for two years.

Mitch McConnell has already indicated Moore is not going to be expelled.

Franken will go. Your move, Republicans.

@intparent

I am more cynical than you. I figure it’s a calculated political advantage that is driving it, including, of course, appealing to the base.
