Wow. Morgan Spurlock confesses his past misdeeds, including sexual harassment and assault. Reading it, I feel sorry for him, but more sorry for the women in his life.
These stories are difficult to read. So much pain.
I’m so glad for this moment. Keep talking!
Arghhhh. Should have said “not too old”. Need coffee…
16 year old turns down a date with a 25 year old man. Gets shot 3 times. In her dying breaths she identifies her shooter. (Side note: why does it take 20 minutes to get an ambulance?)

I think there is a conversation around the state of our culture that needs to be had, but I’m afraid it won’t be because it is not politically correct. Will this “reckoning” change things? Maybe, hopefully, but I don’t know.
I am not victim-blaming or women-blaming with this comment:
But, I have lately (in the last two years or so) become acutely aware that men’s professional dress covers their arms and legs. Women’s professional dress often exposes their arms and legs. It’s particularly acute when you watch TV news – especially local news and Fox News.
IMO, this should be part of the cultural change that we need to undergo.
What is wrong with women showing their arms and legs?
^I don’t think TV News reflects the professional dress of most women. Yes legs can be seen because women wear skirts.
Well then I think men on the news should feel free to expose their arms and legs. Wouldn’t bother me.
None of that has zip to do with this thread about assault and harassment. Unless we are talking about harassing women into wearing what some subsection of society has deemed acceptable.?
As my HS English teacher would always comment; “Antecedent please.” What is “this?” That men in professional attire should show arms and legs or that women should not?
The only thing that bothers me with newscasters clothing is when it isn’t weather appropriate. The women must be freezing all winter in those sleeveless dresses while the men must be melting all summer in full suits.
Dress for the weather people!
Fox News in so many ways gives us the platonic ideal of how women should NOT be treated in the professional workplace.
TV studios are very hot due to all the lighting.
I’m really not sure what I mean by this, but it strikes me that our culture says that professional women can expose all this and professional men cannot (except for the occasional golf shirt on casual Friday).
True @emilybee but then the men must be sweltering in their suit jackets.
I don’t care how warm the temperature is inside, if there is Arctic cold outside then I want sleeves! Lol
And often on the morning talk shows the women go outside for segments. It’s bitterly cold and even with their nice wool coats, they have to be frozen through (especially with those bare legs!)
Yes, the men swelter.
Personally, I like how most women TV anchors dress. The dresses are usually very pretty and stylish, IMO.
Our culture also dictates that men can expose their bare chests at the beach and women usually cannot.
I would keep in mind that women in their late 40s-50s are probably not that cold with sleeveless attire due to them being at or near their “personal summers”.
IMO, a short tight skirt, such as is demanded by for example Fox News, is not a professional outfit. Three inch heels are unprofessional and also unhealthy.
