Oh jeez, another one. NY AG Eric Schneiderman is credibly accused by four women, two named, of intimate partner violence. He has an alcohol problem and likes to slap and choke his girlfriends when he is drunk, according to four accusers. Sorry no link, but it’s another Ronan Farrow story in the New Yorker.
Oh ugh.
He just resigned. Good.
Damn, that was fast. I hope he has a good staff that can take over things in the AG’s office for now.
I was absolutely gobsmacked when this story came out last night. Schneiderman, politically, is one of the good guys. I also hope hope hope that the cases he is working on will continue uninterrupted. The NY AG’s office is a very important office and they’re working on some big stuff.
On another note: Ronan Farrow is having a remarkable year. He’s the person uncovering all of this. Kudos to him.

I had the radio on while having breakfast. Nearly lost it hearing the revolting details.
Who could have guessed that one of the most vocal opponents of an offense in the news could be a flagrant offender in private? When has that ever happened before, and who else’s self-righteous pronouncements should we be questioning?
Ronan Farrow also confirmed that Black Cube was the firm hired to try to dirty up the reputation of former Obama officials associated with the Iran deal. They targeted their wives! Ronan used to work in the state department so he has experience there. Let’s hope HE doesn’t have any skeletons in his closet.
SMH just thinking of these high profile men and how they must delude themselves that this stuff is going to remain a secret.
Eliot Spitzer.
The hypocrisy was present with Spitzer but while he engaged in illegal activity his relationships were consensual.
This was physical abuse (domestic violence) by ES. Disgusting, sickening, dispicable.
The NYS Assembly and NYS Senate will decide who fills the vacancy - which effectively means it will be the Speaker’s choice as they have way more votes then R’s in the legislature.
Lots of excellent names being discussed, including Preet Bharara.
In the meantime NYS Solititor General will fill the vacancy.
The AG’s office will continue doing the same job it’s been doing all along.
Based on the comments by one of the women involved, being an ally of the women’s movement does give you cover,
when she told her friends, they didn’t want her to report it as Schneiderman was one of the good guys.
I believe one reason that her friends didn’t want her to report was because they were afraid she woukd suffer reprisals because of the power he held. Two of the women reported precisely because they said they hoped it would prevent other women from experiencing what they had while dating him.
How could a woman possibly think that a man who hits women is ‘one of the good guys’.? Unbelievable.
I feel like there is more in the Schneiderman story than we are told from the article - I don’t mean in his favor, but maybe a more complex picture than we get to see?
