Assault/Harassment thread

I’d like to know if the Democratic members of the committee have seen Judge’s statement. My understanding is that they have been completely shut out of this “investigation”.

Fred Thompson, I remember. Why has Feinstein not produced the complete unredacted letter? Doesnt make sense.

Other than obvious names redacted (we know them now), I believe that’s the letter.

Maybe in the future, there should be a Senate policy that accusers must be willing to testify, at least in closed session, or the Senate will disregard the accusation. You don’t get to make accusations attacking someone’s character for office and just walk away.

And how very rude it is to just cut off conversation by saying “how dare you”. Explaining ones perspective so others can understand is far more effective than shutting people up.

Reading through this thread and others, it is obvious that one really doesn’t know what other people have gone through. So don’t assume.

Or perhaps to law enforcement.

Perhaps the FBI?

really? I’m rude? maybe a bit of self reflection is in order.

If it’s just the names, then why not release the unredacted letter? Doesn’t make sense.

Maybe so, @amom2girls. But consider the possibility that trying to shut down questions and conversations could be considered rude. I certainly do. If I have a problem with someone’s reasoning, I try to explain myself, give examples, or ask questions. I don’t try to shut them up. Even if I vehemently disagree.

@amom2girls Was recounting an extremely painful episode in her life. I think we can forgive her if her emotions ran high.

The issue surrounding the Kavanaugh nomination hits buttons for many people. I am glad that as a society we no longer brush it under the rug and are doing some hard work regarding the topic.

@tating I’m not sure what you’re looking for. The letter was released without names (letter dated July 28, when she wanted to stay anonymous), now we know the names, what info is missing that needs to be un-redacted?

Plenty of posters have explained why it is possible to fully remember one part of an incident and not others. What more is there to be discussed? People go on and on making up various scenarios with facts not in evidence to attempt to explain or call in to question this woman and her experience. I’ll bow out of your “conversation” so you can continue to vilify this women. Bit you can try to rationalize your “questions” all you would like;)

Per the Senate tweet, all member staffers were invited but the Dem staffers declined to participate in the staff ‘investigation’.

Per Sen. Grassley, the Dems were invited to participate in the investigation on the 19th, but declined.

Have you seen a source that contradicts those Senate Committee tweets, intparent?

Speaking to law enforcement is good, but since the letter was addressed to the Senate and is designed to influence a Senate decision, yes, I think the Senate can rightfully demand an accuser appear before the Senate at least in closed session.

I can agree with that, Snowball City. I have a particularly intense reaction to certain things myself.

I have discovered on this forum that you just don’t know much about people. You can talk to someone casually one day about a mundane topic, and then you find out they, their child or spouse are dying. Or terrible things have happened to them (or are happening right now). Or you find out soon after that they committed suicide. So I try not to make assumptions about people, because you just don’t know.

I can’t get a link to come over:

Patti Reagen Davis reveals she was raped many years ago by a music executive and her memories of the event are scattered and incomplete. She wrote this for the Washington Post.

^^I hope she named him.

It was 40 years ago. He may be dead. And if she want to, she will do it on her own time.
