How hard is it to get research opportunities as a freshman?

I’m almost sure that same question has been asked a week or two ago- try to go find that thread.

But, in case you can’t find that post/thread, highly interested students who approach a professor they have taken a class with first semester generally do find themselves working in a lab second semester. If that doesn’t work out, there are quite a freshmen that stay over the summer working on research projects for professors. If you’re a research presidential scholar or have significant prior research experience, it shouldn’t be very difficult to find a research opportunity as soon as you start classes.

The opportunities are out there; you just need to go actively search for them.
