ASSIST Question

I'm in my first semester at a community college. Given my credits from AP courses and the fact that I plan on taking classes this summer, my goal is to transfer after the 2014-15 school year. But as a biology major, I have to take an incredible amount of biology and chemistry classes to satisfy degree/IGETC/ASSIST requirements. I'm registering for my summer classes now, and it looks like literally every biology and chemistry class is full.
Sorry if this sounds stupid. But, if students apply to schools in the fall, are they supposed to have completed the coursework for their respective majors as determined by ASSIST.org by then? If I finish the coursework required by my major in say, the spring or summer of 2015, how will the UC's I've applied to know? The more I think about it the more it seems like I'll have to spend a third year here..

Officially, you have to have your coursework finished by the end of the spring semester before you transfer (it cannot be finished the summer right before you transfer, or at least they won’t consider that in your admissions decision). So for you to transfer after the 2014-2015 school year, you would need to complete your coursework by the end of spring of 2015.

However, if your major is impacted, they may expect you to complete your major’s pre-reqs before that. It really depends. Some majors want you to have the majority or all of your pre-reqs finished by the time of your winter update (for you, this would be around the end of this calender year).

Thanks music, this was helpful.
