Associates Degree

I'm still trying to make a decision on what I want to major in. My community college offers Journalism degree and a Digital Media Arts degree. The Digital Media Arts degree is the closest I can find that has to do with film. Now, for the two, which do you think has the better job opportunities? I want to do Radio Broadcasting but I'm a little worried about the jobs for that. One more question, do you think an getting an associates degree for the major your going into a plus instead of just transferring without a major? Hopefully I'm making sense. My dream school is USC so I'm trying to do anything to get myself ready for a few years.

I wouldn’t plan for an associate’s, but if you happen to fulfill the requirements on the way to transferring then go ahead and apply for graduation (that’s how I ended up with mine). An associate’s degree may give you a little bit of an edge over high school graduates, if that is all you have. But if you are continuing on to get your BA, then it really doesn’t matter.

As for which major offers the most job prospects, I don’t know. Have you looked at the Occupation Outlook Handbook from the Department of Labor? It’s a really good resource for this sort of thing: [Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition](http://www.bls.gov/oco/)
