Hello,
I'm considering one of two options:
Option 1: Go to a CC, get my associates in accounting, transfer to a four year university, get my bachelors in accounting, earn a CPA license.

Option 2: Go to a CC, get my associates in paralegal studies having taken beg level accounting classes, transfer to a four year university, get my bachelors in Accounting, earn a CPA license.

I can probably finish most of my general education classes at the CC before transferring.

Will changing my major after getting my associates decrease my chances of getting into a good four year school in anyway??

What do you think?

Will I be able to get my bachelor's degree on time?

Thank you!

ALSO! About option 2, since i won’t taking those extra accounting classes towards my paralegal major, will they be able to fulfill some of my BA accounting degree classes or will they transfer as elective courses?

I need a reply…this is toubling me. BUMP!

I would not recommend getting an associate degree in accounting, if you plan on pursuing bachelors, unless you want to work as a bookkeeper while getting your degree. In order to transfer with the least amount of credits lost, you will have to get a degree similar to liberal arts or at least something different than accounting because many 4 year colleges do not accept accounting classes from community colleges.

You can change your degree almost at any time, and colleges do not judge you based on your major, so do not worry about that. They just need your money!

Classes that you might take in paralegal studies will be counted towards 150 hour requirement. However, they may be counted as electives if your potential accounting program has certain requirements that do not involve those classes.
