Asterisk Next to PSAT Score?

I am an American citizen who has been living and studying in Australia since the beginning of sophomore year.

I took the international PSAT October of this year (2012) and I received a 231. However, under my "Your Selection Index" box, there is an asterisk next to my score saying that I do not meet entry requirements for NMSC's 2014 programs.

Under my "Entry Requirements" it says that I had "No Response" for any of the fields, even though I clearly remember indicating that I was a US citizen and high school student. The other two fields ("Years to complete high school and enroll full-time in college." and "Years to be spent in grades 9-12") I think I left blank because Australian high schools are pretty different to those in America.

Anyways, I assume that the test administrators at the Australian high school I sat the test at just assumed that all the students taking the test were Australian citizens and decided to ignore our responses for the "Entry Requirements" field.

So how would I go about making myself eligible to qualify for NMSC's 2014 programs? I definitely meet all the requirements: I am a US citizen, I am in year 11 or junior year, and I am a full-time high school student. What gives?

Thanks!

Give NMSC a call, they are pretty friendly and accessible.

My son had a similar problem.

You need to have your GC call and make the corrections to NMCorp. My son accidentally indicated that he wasn’t a full time student. The GC called NMCorp and it was all fixed.

If you have a time zone problem, then call NMCorp and ask how this can get corrected.

I believe the key is to get the info that you are a junior to appear on your scores. Anyone who is not a junior will automatically receive that asterisk mark (I believe my DD had some indication last year when she was a sophomore).

The OP is a junior and really should NOT have an * near his score. He has one because somehow his US citizenship wasn’t recognized or some other similar problem.

He needs to contact NMCorp ASAP, maybe fax a pic of his passport, and get that fixed. Since his GC is on a very different time zone, it may be difficult for his GC to handle this by phone. However, NMCorp may want the GC to fax from her office.
