Can you help me understand if there is any point in filling out the gigantic questionnaire? As far as I can see, slim chances of colleges finding us to give out financial aid.

Yes, and you can opt out of most questions… unless you want the TiggerChild to receive a lot of mostly useless mail.
My kids avoided the deluge of unsolicited mail from schools and didn’t do any of that or check the box for colleges to send info. These days you can choose schools to look at and use their websites. In the “old days” the only way to get info other than a visit, was through the mail. You certainly won’t get access to financial aid this way.
