Should I bother actually sitting down and reading the textbook?
The midterm's a week from Monday and it almost seems as if I can get away with reviewing using the notes in the reader, homework and past quizzes.

Does anyone in this class actually find it more conducive to scrutinize the textbook instead?

Hey, I’m in C10
I remember it was either Alex or my GSI who said that the best way to study for the midterm would be to look over past homework and over the slides. No mention of the book. He said to make sure you DON’T just memorize the slides but really get to understand them (makes sense, that’s good advice). Any other CC Astro C10 people are welcome to throw in their 2 cents, but the way I see it is: you should only really get into the book if there’s a slide that you don’t understand, and need to go back to the book for reference. Other than that, if you get the slides, then just study off of that

Thanks.
Bumping for further advice…

Agreed, the questions are usually off the slides, you really need to understand the concepts very very well. The book is only for homework, and clarifying concepts that you don’t understand from the slides. Do the practice questions over and over!

Lol I feel so bad because things have gotten in the way and I’ve missed the past couple of lectures…I’m SO glad there’s a webcast for it, though

What did you Astro C10 people think of the midterm? I ended up with 2 best answers on more than I thought I would’ve…it was a little trickier than I expected, too, but I think I did all right.

does anyone know what the point cutoffs were from previous yearSs?

Sorry, I don’t know, but hopefully we’ll get them back quickly because it’s just scantron :D

lol scores are in the gradebook and solutions are already posted on bspace! they’re fast!
