Does ASU send a physical acceptance letter? I got in but they didn’t even send me an e-mail or anything, it just says “Congratulations” on the portal.
Yes, but you see the Congratulations on the portal way before the letter comes
Thank you!
You will receive the physical letter a few weeks afterwards. The same will be the case for any merit awards. The online portal will be updated first.
S19 got his letter 10/26. About a week after portal update.
My son saw congratulations on 10/31, but no letter yet and today is 11/11. Agree, it’s a letdown.
@Anninhawaii, portal acceptance before physical letter/packet is pretty much the norm these days. Modern technology!
@Anninhawaii I agree with @jellybean5 . My D19 was admit to ASU on 8/31 (via the portal) and the letter we eventually received was dated 9/17/18 and probably received about 9/22. Similar situation with the merit award. It was visible on the portal (once I knew where to look) but the snail mail letter came about 8 days later.
@Corinthian where in the portal was the information about the merit award for you?
@DocJake from the MyASU home page, click on Finances. Then where it says “Renewable Aid Programs Status”, click on More Information.
Thanks @Corinthian. I just checked and I don’t see anything there How long after you were accepted did you see the scholarship info?
I think it was about 2 weeks. Does your portal show that they have received your official ACT or SAT report?
Hi, I just saw that I got admitted to ASU Computer Science program. But the’Renewable Aid Programs Status’ says ‘Not Applicable’. Does it mean I am not eligible for the merit aid or they may inform later?
@Corinthian I just checked S19’s portal and followed your instructions for scholarship info. He got a $14,500 renewable Dean’s Award! I had no idea it was coming. Very happy.
I’m wondering the same thing. I followed the instructions on this thread and it says “not applicable” on mine. I’m also a CSE major.
@equationlover have you sent official SAT or ACT scores? I don’t think self reported scores work for the merit scholarship. And have you tried the online scholarship estimator? Does it show that you should be eligible? https://scholarships.asu.edu/estimator
Yes. I sent my ACT score, it was a 29, and I have a 3.9 UW GPA. It said on the estimator I should get around $15,000 a year when I looked at it the other night. @Corinthian
@Corinthian Is it because I have not put ASU on my FAFSA yet? But I thought this was merit aid?
@equationlover that’s not it. We didn’t do FAFSA. If the online estimator shows you should be getting aid and you’ve submitted official SAT or ACT scores, I’m not sure what’s up. Try clicking on the tab for Service Center and there are several options to contact the admissions office, including phone (1-855-ASU-5080), live chat or click on New Case and type in your question.
How long did it take for scholarship money to show up in the portal? I just got accepted last Sunday. @Corinthian
