My son is currently filling out housing app for Fall 2006. Any suggestions for freshman dorms? He is social, doesn’t want to be too isolated on campus. (he’s won’t be an Honors student, so we’ll rule out Barrett) Would the North Campus residence halls be a good choice?

Parent of a recent grad:
I suggest the North side for freshman. Closer to services along Mill Ave,more dining choices also. San Pablo is the newest there..and nice... unless they tell you McAllister Academic Village will finally be finished (its kinda out of the way though close to the Rec building, and the plans look great).Manzanita has had a bad rep over the years.
D was in the Honors College so lived in Best(new wing) one year and Hayden(new wing) the next. Then moved off campus. Some non honors kids do live in the Center complex(what all the buildings in the middle are called)
I would pick anything on the south side as a last choice unless your child wants the wellness type dorm.

Many thanks for your input! He has asked to be placed in the North side dorms....seems like a good fit.

Just remembered:Daughter's friend lived in Palo Verde East (I think..the one closer to the bridge over University) and had a room on the top floor with a view right into the football stadium..big perk on game days..they also used the roof for viewing!!
