ASU Merit Scholarship Notification

Has anyone received a letter in the mail yet saying they got a merit scholarship / the New American University scholarship? I heard that they are supposed to come in the mail 2-3 weeks after you receive your acceptance, and that nothing will show up about it in the portal. I was accepted in Mid-September so I’m just curious if the letters haven’t gone out yet or if I didn’t receive a scholarship.

Hi, my son received ASU admit notification email on Sep 27 but hasn’t received any merit award yet. Interested to hear from anyone who has received the award.

Does anyone know if the New American University scholarship is off tuition or is it off total cost? In the estimator it show is off total cost but what if someone does not plan to live on campus? Thanks!

If you’re living off-campus, you will still recieve the full scholarship. You can just ignore the costs of living on-campus.

Hey, I also had the same question, I’ve been accepted for about a month now. I had to learn this myself despite 3 calls to the admissions office since they award the NAUS, not scholarship services, and none of the reps knew. If you log into My ASU, and click the Finances tab, go to the window for Financial Aid and Scholarships, under the Financial Aid Tracker you’ll see a gray box, click More Information and you’ll see your award! I used the estimator and found it OVERestimates your actual award, I was estimated to receive $8k/year, 20 points short away on my SAT from $10k/year as a resident but only received $6k/year, so don’t be surprised if you get less than what you anticipated, I will call admissions about this soon. Also are you applying to Barrett, just out of curiosity.

@Harry0706 Thank you so much, that was so helpful! The estimator was accurate for me, I’m OOS and I got the President’s Award for $15,500. I am applying to Barrett (gotta finish my application ugh) are you?

I just checked my mail and got the actual scholarship letter lol. Yes I am applying to Barrett, I feel underqualified now because I did not receive the Provost or Presidents award, only the Deans even though I was estimated for Provosts. My stats are: 27 ACT, 1310 SAT, unweighted core GPA is about 3.27 (this is the big crashing point for me), rank 43/411 as of this semester. I need to finish my app as well, but the essay blind-sided me! I feel like we can’t express ourselves as individuals as past applicants have based on their prompts. Hope I can finish a quality essay by Nov. 1 lol

@Harry0706 Oh that’s nice, I keep checking my mail but still haven’t gotten the letter, hopefully I get it within the next couple days. My stats are 32 ACT, 3.83 GPA UW, my school doesn’t rank. I think the only thing left I have to do with my application is get all the recommendation letters in, but one of my recommenders is taking a veeeery long time to get it done lol. I agree the essay was an interesting topic, I wrote it and just have to edit it. Not my best work but I think it’ll do.

It’s backwards for me, I got both letters in a week ago and the app is waiting on me to complete it.

Ah okay, well good luck, hope you/we get it in on time haha!

Is the scholarship letter sent via email or post?

Sent through snail mail, but you can periodically check online through the method I stated above! @LIONKINGGGG

@Harry076 Is that $15,500 scholarship for one year? And will you get it all four years? Congrats!

@MFHP96 I have the same scholarship, it is 15.5k each year for four years.

@WiscoRunner Thanks - I was hoping you’d say that. That’s what it shows on my son’s “MyASU” using the instructions mentioned above! We’re OOS, too. Now he just needs to finish up with Barrett.

@MFHP96 That’s great! It’s a very nice scholarship, brings ASU’s cost down to instate level for me.
